This week, the House Energy & Commerce Committee held several hearings, including one with HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra who was before the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee to answer for the 85,000+ missing migrant children at the southern border. My colleagues and I worked to hold him accountable and ask the tough questions so the Biden administration knows they cannot get away without answering for the disappearing unaccompanied minors.
The Sarmiento Family, constituents from Ocala, were in town to continue advocating for my bill, the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act. Their son Zion was born with Down syndrome and passed away in October 2021 after being denied a heart transplant due to his disability.
Finally, the Energy & Commerce Committee held a hearing on autonomous vehicles and protecting consumer safety and data privacy. Take a look at the hearing below!
The House is out of session for the next six weeks for August recess and I'll be back home meeting with many of you in August and September! I'm excited to see many of you around North Central Florida in the next month.
