Dear Neighbor,
This week the House was back in session to make progress toward passing several appropriations bills to avoid a government shutdown. Unfortunately, the House is in recess this weekend while negotiators work to iron out the details. My priorities remain cutting spending, funding our military and national defense, supporting our veterans, and securing the border, and I will be in Washington as long as it takes to get this done.
Back home, we featured some of the locations hit hardest by Hurricane Idalia in August. CULTIVA Farms and R&R Cantwell Clamming shared their stories with us, underscoring the importance of disaster funding to help our communities recover. During these negotiations, I'm continuing to highlight how important adequate funding for disaster recovery is for Florida's producers, homeowners, and businesses.
As a final reminder, the deadline to submit applications for our nation's service academies is next Friday. If you know a student interested in applying, please make sure they check out our website (linked below) for more information.
To all of those observing Yom Kippur this weekend, we wish you a meaningful fast, and to folks recognizing Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day on Sunday, we hope this day brings reverence and peace. Your fallen heroes' sacrifices will always be remembered.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |
