Standing With Israel & The Speaker's Battle

Dear Neighbor,

The attacks on Israel this past weekend were an atrocious and extreme act of hatred and terrorism. We mourn with our global Jewish population and pray for the victims and the families of those whose lives were cut short by a barbaric, extreme, and hate-filled terror organization. In the United States House of Representatives, we will always stand with Israel and defend the country's unequivocal right to defend itself and its citizens.

Our office continues to help evacuate Americans in Israel. If you or someone you know needs help returning to the States, please reach out to us in Washington, D.C. or Gainesville at (202) 225-5744 or (352) 505-0838.

This week I had the chance to speak with the University of Florida's Gators for Israel group. I am in close touch with UF President Sasse and the law enforcement authorities in Gainesville to keep our Jewish student populations safe on campus. You can read more about our conversation below.

Finally, the search for a new Speaker of the House remains an uphill battle. At the time of this newsletter's publication, House Republicans are still in conversations to identify a new nominee after the top vote-getter, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, dropped out of the race unexpectedly late last night. As we advance through this process, we will be sure to keep you informed.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For Freedom,

We Stand With Israel

Image

Saturday morning, we woke up to the truly horrific news out of Israel. In the days since, we've seen the horrors of Hamas and its Iranian partners, and will always stand with Israel and its unequivocal right to defend itself and its citizens.

We pray for the victims, their families, and our friends in Israel. We stand with them and will continue to support them in the face of extreme terrorism that must end.

Speaking With Gators For Israel

Image

This week I met with the leadership team with Gators for Israel, along with Rabbi Zinn, one of UF’s Jewish campus leaders. UF is home to the largest Jewish student population of any university in the U.S. We spoke about the horrors in Israel and my unequivocal support for Isael’s right to defend itself and its citizens.

I’m working closely with UF President Ben Sasse, UPD, and GPD to ensure the safety of Jewish students during this time and am grateful for their support and commitment to keeping our community safe. I also shared with the group my support of several new resolutions shoring up campus security and safety for Jewish students at colleges and universities across the country. Our support for Israel will never waver and we are proud to stand with them during this incredibly dark time.

From Gators for Israel President Mason Solomon: "Fear has been the fundamental driver of the pain felt in the last few days. Gators For Israel is proud to work with Congresswoman Cammack in ensuring the safety of Jewish Gators despite this overwhelming fear. We are working alongside UF Administration, UFPD/GPD, and other Student Organizations at the University of Florida to keep our community safe and united during these troubling times. We pray for peace and security to all people affected by these acts of terror."

Talking The Squad's Disgraceful Comments With The Evening Edit

Image

Earlier this week, I joined Liz MacDonald on The Evening Edit to discuss the Squad's disgraceful comments about Israel. Several members of the House Democratic Caucus have failed to condemn Hamas' horrific attacks, and the American people should know where they stand.

I proposed making them unable to participate in classified briefings about the situation if they're not able to condemn terrorism and stand with the Israeli people.
