Week of November 27, 2023
Bidenomics Failing America, Government Censorship Takes Center Stage

Dear Neighbor,

This week, Congress was busy with hearings and votes before the winter recess and Christmas break. Take a look below to learn more about what we were up to as the year winds down.

I spoke on the Weaponization Subcommittee on Capitol Hill this week. Congress needs to put pressure on the Biden administration and federal government to stop the growing censorship of the American people. Whether it's the silencing of Americans discussing politics or international events, it's imperative that we preserve Americans' First Amendment rights. Take a look below for more information on the hearing this week below.

The Energy & Commerce Committee was also busy this week with two subcommittee hearings with the CDC Director and FCC Commissioners. I spoke during each hearing about the Biden administration's overreach into Americans' lives and the growing bureaucracy's regulations that hinder Americans' businesses.

Additionally, the House voted to expel George Santos this week. I talked about my vote against the resolution on Fox News. Keep scrolling to learn more.

Back home in Florida's Third, I was proud to announce the winners of the Congressional App Challenge: Aliana Chen and Jolie Huang from Buchholz High School in Alachua County! These young ladies taught themselves how to code to create an app called CritiCare. Thier app aims to raise awareness for endangered wildlife in Florida. Their winning app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol

I would also like to extend a big congratulations to Bradford High's football team! Tonight I will be cheering them on as they take on the state semifinals against Pensacola Catholic! Good luck to the Tornadoes and all of our other local teams competing for state titles.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

Fighting For Free Speech

No matter who's in office, it's pivotal that we protect our First Amendment rights.

Over the last year, the Weaponization Subcommittee has worked to expose the gross government censorship taking place across the country. Whether it was about COVID, the Biden laptop, the Biden family, or another taboo topic brushed under the rug by the bureaucratic establishment, American citizens were censored at alarming rates.

It shouldn't matter which party controls the White House, the House, or the Senate. I talked about this during our Weaponization hearing Thursday.

The Weaponization Subcommittee Tackles Government Censorship

Image

A lot has happened over the last 60 years. From the moon landing and the space race to the advent of the internet and social media. What has become the new town square online has become subject to government censorship. As folks in Florida know, we're no strangers to this situation, especially during COVID when the Sunshine State stayed open for business while the rest of the country was locked down.

We explored more on this censorship in this week's Weaponization Subcommittee hearing. Click the button below to learn more!

Bidenomics Is Killing Americans' Wallets

Image

The White House claims Bidenomics is "lowering costs" for Americans, but this couldn't be farther from the truth.

Since Biden took office, prices have risen 17.1 percent. A new report shows the average American family must spend an additional $11,400+ each year to maintain the same standard of living pre-Biden administration.

Congressional App Challenge: Gainesville Students Take The Gold

Image

Congratulations to this year's Congressional App Challenge winners for Florida's Third! Aliana Chen and Jolie Huang from Buchholz High School created an app called CritiCare, which works to raise awareness and knowledge about endangered species through fundraising efforts and conservation opportunities.

The young innovators join hundreds of high school students from across the country who entered the Congressional App Challenge to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. The app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol next year, alongside winning apps from other congressional districts. Congratulations, Aliana and Jolie—we look forward to celebrating this win with you!

Ensuring High Quality Decision-Making for Veterans' Claims on Appeals

Image

On Wednesday, Brown and Dave from our D.C. and Gainesville offices attended a hearing of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs titled "Examining the VA Appeals Process: Ensuring High Quality Decision-Making for Veterans' Claims on Appeals." Over the last several years, our team has been working to ease the burden on our veterans who file claims with the VA, especially during the appeals process. It's important that we continue to support our nation's heroes through the care they receive at the VA, especially when it comes to the prompt delivery of decisions that can affect so much of their lives.

We will always work to make sure our heroes receive the best care possible and the prompt attention of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Celebrating Winston Churchill With Speaker Johnson

Image

This week we celebrated the 149th birthday of Sir Winston Churchill, a champion of freedom and the first honorary U.S. citizen! We are grateful for the many years of friendship between our two nations and look forward to continuing our working relationships with our counterparts across the pond.

Thank You To Our Veterans

Image

As we close out November, we take a moment to thank our nation's heroes for their service and sacrifice to our nation. On Veterans Day, I had the honor to thank several of Florida's finest for their dedication and commitment to our nation, both in the military and in our community.

Thank you to the incredible men and women in North Central Florida who answered the call to serve. We are grateful for you today and every day.
