Dear Neighbor,

Team Kat's been busy working for our neighbors here in Florida's Third while the House is in recess! We're available Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm to hear from you and to assist with a variety of constituent needs. To see all of our locations and office phone numbers, please click here.

Today is the deadline for submissions for the Congressional Art Competition! If you know a high school student interested in participating, don't miss out. Click here and keep reading below to learn more on how to submit your work before the end of the day. I can't wait to review the submissions from all of our talented young artists, and please stay tuned for the fan portion of voting on social media starting in two weeks.

Finally, our monthly telephone town hall is coming up on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30pm. We look forward to hearing from you in just a few days.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Honoring Ocala's Joseph Eugene Fricks

Image

Joseph Eugene Fricks was a decades-long resident of Ocala before he passed away in December of last year. A gifted aviator who transported several presidential press corps groups overseas during numerous presidencies in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, Joe served our nation until the very end, volunteering at Ocala's Blessed Trinity Church and cleaning bathrooms after Sunday Mass.

His granddaughter Lauren works on Capitol Hill for a Republican member of Congress from Wisconsin and shared his story with us so we could properly honor his life on the House Floor and to thank him for his decades of service to our nation.

Take a look at this tribute below.

New ACSO Precinct Opens In Newberry

Image

Team Kat was glad to see the opening of the new Alachua County Sheriff's Office precinct in Newberry. The community in Newberry it tight-knit and with its recent growth, it's important to make sure citizens feel safe in the western part of the county. ACSO has plans to fully staff this substation in the coming months, along with a couple other substations sprinkled throughout the greater Gainesville area.

JAXPORT's Latest Talleyrand Marine Terminal Operations

Image

I had the opportunity to visit the team at JAXPORT for an update on the latest developments and their operations at the Talleyrand Marine Terminal (TMT). TMT is home to three main tenants: Crowley (Puerto Rico trade), Seaonus (paper and breakbulk products), and Southeast Toyota (import/export of Toyota and Lexus vehicles). We also visited an LNG fueling station that plays a critical role in powering our state and nation.

I also had the opportunity to unload some shipping containers and to see all that goes into operating and maintaining Florida’s largest container port and one of the nation’s largest vehicle-handling ports. Thank you for having us!
