Dear Neighbor,
This week was the first of four scheduled Washington weeks.
In the news this week were college students at UCLA, Columbia University, George Washington University, and dozens of others protesting against Israel. Meanwhile at the University of Florida, university leaders took a strong stance, with President Ben Sasse declaring that UF is not a daycare and that violations of university policy wouldn't be tolerated. I'm proud of UF for standing up to protect free speech while protecting Jewish students on campus. We will continue doing everything we can to protect our Jewish community and to make it clear that antisemitism will not be tolerated.
In the Weaponization Subcommittee this week, a former Biden administration official appeared to attempt to defend the Biden White House's censorship of social media. When I asked Rob Flaherty, the former White House Director of Digital Strategy, about the First Amendment, he couldn't name all five freedoms. It's embarrassing and a little disappointing but not all that surprising coming from the Biden administration.
Finally, tomorrow morning is our Service Academy Day in Ocala. Join us at Trinity Catholic High School to learn more about serving our nation through one of our nation's service academies. Take a look below for all of the details.
I'll be back in the district this weekend and look forward to seeing folks before heading back to D.C. Monday. Wishing you and your family a great weekend.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |
