Dear Neighbor,
This week ends the final of four straight weeks of the House in session. I'm certainly looking forward to getting back to Florida after this long stretch in D.C.
Yesterday was a monumental day in the House, as the House Agriculture Committee passed the 2024 Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024, also known as the 2024 Farm Bill. This bill has been years in the making and the product of many rounds of feedback with farmers, ranchers, and producers from across the country.
You may recall last spring when House Agriculture Committee visited Gainesville for a Farm Bill listening session. This was one of more than four-dozen visits across the country by committee leaders and members to solicit feedback from the very men and women who feed, clothe, and fuel our nation. To those who joined us for that big event last April, know that all of your hard work and efforts were incorporated into the bill we considered late into the morning this morning after nearly 15 hours of consideration.
The bill includes a number of significant wins for Florida's farmers, ranchers, and producers, including a base acre update, commodity price increases, specialty crop programs and research, and more. To see everything I helped to secure for Florida in the Farm Bill, click here.
Finally, as we head into this long weekend, may we remember the real reason for Memorial Day and remember the lives of the men and women who sacrificed so much for our nation. We truly are the land of the free because of the brave.
I wish you and your loved ones a great weekend ahead, and I look forward to sharing more about our in-district adventures next week.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |
