Week of May 27, 2024
The House Returns Next Week

Dear Neighbor,

This week I was back in the district and enjoyed time at home after four weeks in session in Washington. It was nice seeing so many folks and being back in Florida.

On Monday, we honored our military men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Their service will never be forgotten and their strength will be remembered every day. Our team worked to put together a video of some of the beautiful displays for Memorial Day. Take a look at the video below.

Additionally, Atlantic Hurricane Season begins tomorrow! Are you and your family prepared? Make sure that you have supplies, receive text alerts, and know what to do when a hurricane is headed our way. To view more resources, take a look at our website and click the link below.

Next week the House is back in session and I'll be back in Washington for more important votes. Stay tuned here, as always, for more information on what we're up to as the week progresses.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

Honoring Memorial Day

Image

On Monday we recognized Memorial Day and the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our nation. The day wasn't about backyard barbecues or the first day of the summer pool season, but about remembering the sacrifices of so many who laid down their lives for our freedom.

We are the land of the free because of the brave.

UF & Tampa's Moffitt Cancer Center With AACI In D.C.

Image

I had the opportunity to join incredible researchers and physicians from UF and the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa for an event with the Association of American Cancer Institutes to show support for their amazing work in the fight against cancer.

I recently had the opportunity to tour the facility in Tampa and am in close touch with the team at UF that takes great care to provide the latest information about cancer to oncologists and patients. We are incredibly fortunate to have amazing, committed folks who work at Florida's academic centers to make a difference in the lives of those in the fight. Thank you for having me—I'm very proud of our outstanding Gators who make progress at the National Cancer Institutes.

Memorial Day In Florida's Third

Earlier this week, we marked Memorial Day and reflected on the service and sacrifices of the men and women who served our nation. Folks across Florida's Third displayed their patriotism and appreciation over the weekend. We captured some of these moments on video; we urge you to take a look.

Our Office Works To Serve You

Image

On our telephone town hall last week, we heard from Nancy in Live Oak, who had issues with the Social Security Administration. She tried a couple avenues until she reached out to our office. Our dedicated constituent advocates got to work right away and helped her niece receive the information and benefits she needed.

If our office can help you with a federal agency—whether it's the IRS, Social Security Administration, VA, Small Business Administration, or many others—reach out to us in Gainesville. I am YOUR representative in Washington and my team works for YOU. Give us a call at (352) 505-0838.

As Floridians, we know Atlantic Hurricane Season all too well. Beginning tomorrow, we're in primetime hurricane season, and NOAA predicts this year could be a busy one for tropical activity due to La Niña and above-average water temperatures.

Now's the time to get prepared with updating your emergency plans, packing your hurricane kit, and signing up for the very important alerts provided by local news stations and the National Weather Service. You can view our full list of important hurricane tips on our website here.

Columbia County Dialysis Center

Image

I recently had the opportunity to tour DaVita's Columbia County Dialysis Center! I spoke with the center director, doctors, nurses, and patient care techs who care for patients with end-stage kidney disease and other kidney disorders. Dialysis is an important part of many individuals' health care treatment plans and this facility offers an accessible, safe place to receive care. Thank you to the team for showing me around and sharing more about this important clinical profession.
