August Recess Begins, Monitoring Invest 97L In The Tropics

Dear Neighbor,

This week, I am back home in the Sunshine State's Third Congressional District! It's always a breath of fresh air to be back and on the ground meeting with my neighbors. After a busy legislative year, I always look forward to August as the chance to connect with you and take back more great ideas to Washington in September.

As we head into the weekend, we're closely monitoring Invest 97L, a tropical development heading into the Gulf of Mexico. The latest models as of Friday morning indicate it will weaken as it moves north, but we know how quickly these storms can change. With this in mind, please stay tuned to local news and weather alerts for the latest information regarding heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and flooding that this storm may bring. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

This week, we said goodbye to our four summer interns as they finished their final week in our office. We're so thankful to have had these wonderful students work for our district. I wish them luck as they return back to the Swamp and law school this fall.

Back home, Team Kat had the privilege to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for our community's newest green space, Ocala Park Estates. This new park will only add to our already beautiful home and serve as a place for all to enjoy.

We wish you a safe weekend and encourage you to stay tuned to local news and weather for the latest information on 97L. Stay safe, stay prepared, and stay tropical storm ready.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

Sunday Signatures

Image

In an effort to save time, some members use a "signature stamp" for letters and gallery passes but I, however, prefer to hand-sign these items as it's a time of reflection and gratitude for me.

I posted a time-lapse video on Sunday of some of the signature process. Check it out here

Speaking At YAFCon 2024

Image

It's always great to see engaged student leaders from across the country at this year's YAFCon with Young America's Foundation. We had great conversations about the future of our nation and why it's so important to stand up for our values, including freedom of speech and expression and intellectual diversity, especially on college campuses.

Thanks so much for having me and bringing the energy and passion for our great nation!

Saying Goodbye To Our Summer Interns

Image

As we closed out July, we said goodbye to our four summer interns, Samantha, Esther, Julia, and Jonathan.

Over the last three months, they've been hard at work giving tours to constituents, answering phones, and assisting with special projects. Three of them are returning to UF this fall to finish their undergraduate careers while another heads to law school.

Please join us in thanking them for all of their hard work! We are grateful for all they've done in service to Florida's Third District!

This week, Team Kat celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Marion County's newest park, Ocala Park Estates! The park features a playground for 12 and under, a picnic pavilion, a grill, and grass for open recreation. We love more green space in Florida's Third and can't wait for folks to visit and enjoy this awesome new park located at 6371 NW 65th St., Ocala, FL 34482.
