Week of October 7, 2024
Hurricane Helene & Hurricane Milton Recovery Efforts Continue

Dear Neighbor,

Hurricane Milton stormed its way across Florida just as rebuilding efforts from Helene began in earnest. While our neighbors to the south saw worse effects from Milton than we did, we're proud to stand with our neighbors and provide them the same support they showed us during and after Hurricane Helene.

If you are experiencing a need for FEMA assistance or have questions about hurricane recovery resources, please know our team is standing by to help. You can contact us at kcammack.hurricane@mail.house.gov or call us at (352) 505-0838 for more information.

Earlier this week, I wrote a letter to USDA Secretary Vilsack requesting action on a number of needs for our area and our neighbors in the southeast. The letter, signed by 14 of my colleagues, asks for the use of more accurate RMA data, FSA strike teams, and more. Take a look below.

Today and Monday, we are holding mobile office hours across the district to aid in recovery efforts! We'd love to see you there or in our Gainesville or Ocala offices anytime. Read below for our hours of operation and more information on how to reach us for assistance.

Finally, due to the storms, we have extended the deadline for our service academy nominations. All materials will be due on Friday, November 1 to allow all of our interested applicants the chance to submit their applications amid postal service delays and storm cleanup efforts. With questions, please contact us in Gainesville at (352) 505-0838.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

Hurricane Recovery With Team Kat

ImageImageImage

Team Kat is hosting mobile office hours today, Friday, October 11, and Monday, October 14 to assist constituents with disaster claims and hurricane recovery resources. If you're in Baker, Dixie, Hamilton, Lafayette, or Levy Counties, please see above for more information about where and when we'll be in your communities.

We'll be on-site with other community resources and leaders to help with disaster claims and to connect you to important resources following Hurricane Helene. We'd love to see you there.

*Please note Lafayette County officials have directed us to Steinhatchee in Taylor County where other county resources are positioned.

Thanking Our Hometown Hurricane Heroes Across The District

Thank you to the amazing team with Bradford County, Sheriff Gordon Smith, and all of our emergency management personnel across Florida's Third for all they do to keep our communities safe year-round, and especially during hurricane season!

This Friday we're visiting our county EOCs to thank them for their hard work. Look forward to more photos soon!

Rep. Cammack Leads Colleagues In Letter To Sec. Vilsack About Hurricane Helene

Image

Before Hurricane Milton struck, many of our communities were still devastated from Hurricane Helene's landfall just two weeks ago. I led a letter with 14 of my colleagues to USDA Secretary Vilsack requesting action on a number of needs for our area and our neighbors in the southeast, including block grants, FSA strike teams, and the use of accurate RMA data. We're continuing to ensure our agricultural producers have everything they need to recover, especially after another big storm.

Deadline Extended: Military Service Academy Nominations

ImageDue to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the deadline for congressional Service Academy nominations has been extended from Friday, October 18th to Friday, November 1st.

If the completed service academy nomination has not yet been mailed to our office, make sure to save a digital copy and send it via email to Dorothy (see contact information above). With delayed mail service in a couple areas due to the storm, we want to make sure all interested students have the opportunity to submit their materials.

With questions, please contact us in Gainesville at (352) 505-0838.
