Dear Neighbor,
Another busy week went by in the blink of an eye! I traveled back to Washington after Thanksgiving to finish the year strong, advocating for my neighbors in Florida's Third.
On the House Floor, I voted on several pieces of legislation to fight the fentanyl crisis and combat communism in the United States. Some bills we discussed in the House this week included:
- H.R.5349, the Crucial Communism Teaching Act
- H.R.9598, the Office of National Drug Control Policy Reauthorization Act of 2024
- H.R.9600: to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 119 Main Street in Plains, Georgia, as the "Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office"
Tomorrow marks an important day of remembrance in American history. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in an act of war that killed and wounded thousands of Americans. On the solemn anniversary of that day, we remember those heroes and thank them for their unyielding bravery and commitment to protecting the United States.
Back home in the district, this week we announced the winners of this year's Congressional App Challenge! Our very own Xuyao Zhang and Aadya Guduru from the Frazer School are this year's first place winners! Their mobile application helps users track perishable food items in their refrigerators and suggests healthy, creative meal ideas using those items.
Next week is another busy week in D.C. as we march toward the end of the year. More updates to come in next week's newsletter!
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most.
