Dear Neighbor,
This week was another busy one in Washington, D.C. As the Senate worked to confirm more of President Trump's cabinet nominees, the House was hard at work sending more legislation to the Senate before movement to the White House.
On Thursday, the House passed the HALT Fentanyl Act, a bill to make permanent the temporary scheduling of fentanyl-related substances. Many of us know people who have lost loved ones to the fentanyl crisis. House Republicans are committed to stopping the flow of fentanyl over our borders and supporting President Trump's agenda to stop the pain of losing friends, neighbors, and colleagues to fentanyl poisoning.
We also proudly introduced the Defending Domestic Orange Juice Production Act, a bill supported by the entire Florida delegation. Florida's oranges are one of our most prized commodities and I'm committed to working with my colleagues to support our growers amid natural disasters and citrus greening.
For those in Dixie County and the surrounding areas, we announced more progress on improving the navigability of the McGriff Channel/Wadley Pass. It has become increasingly unsafe for vessels of all sizes and we're working with the Jacksonville Army Corps of Engineers to restore it to its former glory. You can read more about the progress updates below.
Finally, I was honored to attend the historic executive order signing where President Trump affirmed that no biological men should have any role in women's sports. This has been an ongoing battle during the last administration and I'm proud to have been there to show my support and to declare once and for all that women's sports are for women.
Next week is another busy week in Washington, D.C. I look forward to sharing more updates next week as February marches on.
With all that's happening this new Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |
