Week of February 17, 2025
A Big Week Back In Florida's Third

Dear Neighbor,

This week was a great one in Florida's Third Congressional District! After two very busy Washington weeks, it was the best feeling to be back in the Sunshine State.

On Monday we celebrated President's Day and expressed our gratitude for the leaders our nation has been fortunate to have, including President Trump who continues to set a high bar for success in his second administration. The Senate remains hard at work confirming his nominees and ensuring his cabinet picks can get to work swiftly.

We hosted the first of many live listening sessions in Baker County on Tuesday. We discussed a host of local issues and I provided updates about the latest from Washington, D.C. We will be visiting the remaining 11 counties in Florida's Third in April and look forward to seeing more neighbors at these events. Please follow our social media pages and stay tuned in this newsletter for future announcements about upcoming events.

This week I proudly shared support for several newly introduced bills in Congress. The first will eliminate the Death Tax, which unfairly punishes the owners of family-run farms and businesses. The second prevents China from purchasing American farmland. Both are very important bills for our agricultural and rural communities—take a look below to read more.

The House returns to session next week for three straight weeks in Washington. President Trump's first State of the Union address is coming up on March 4 and we'll be sharing more about what we expect President Trump to address in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned next week for another breakdown of events in Washington.

With all that's happening this new Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

This week Team Kat wished Kat and her husband Matt a very happy anniversary—8 years and counting—please join us in wishing them many more happy years ahead!

Happy President's Day

Happy President's Day! We're incredibly grateful for the amazing leaders we've had in the Oval Office since the start of this great nation. We also extend a special shoutout to President Trump for his historic action in putting our country back on the right track.

Axe The Death Tax

Image

I was proud to co-sponsor the Death Tax Repeal Act with my colleague, Rep. Randy Feenstra. The Death Tax Repeal Act would end the federal estate tax—known as the Death Tax—which punishes family-run farms, ranches, and businesses as the result of the owner’s death.

After a farmer or business owner puts a lifetime of work into a family business, the death tax slaps the next generation with an unaffordable burden upon the passing of a loved one. It's an outdated measure that’s keeping family farms and businesses from where they’re supposed to be: in the family. I'm proud to support this bipartisan measure that does the right thing.

Stop China's Continuous Purchase Of Land Act

Image

I proudly joined my colleague Congresswoman Stephanie Bice in introducing H.R. 1184, the Stop China's Continuous Purchase of Land Act.

It's common sense that Americans should own American land, not our foreign adversaries. The Chinese Communist Party is one of the greatest threats to our national security and should not be allowed to purchase farmland in the United States. We continue to take a stand to ensure our nation is safe from foreign threats.

Celebrating National FFA Week

Image

Wishing a very happy National FFA Week to all of our amazing FFA students across North Central Florida! The FFA tradition across North Central Florida is strong, with thousands of students learning the importance of leadership, stewardship, and a love for our lands. We're grateful for the students, their parents, and the FFA sponsors who continue to support their learning.

Baker County Live Listening Session

Image

It was great seeing the amazing folks in Baker County at our first in-person listening session of the year. We spoke about several local issues in Baker County and the work we're doing in Washington to represent North Central Florida.

Baker represents just one of the 12 counties we'll be visiting this spring for more in-person listening sessions. Stay tuned for future announcements about when we'll be in Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Suwannee, and Union Counties in April.

5th Annual Gathering In Gilchrist

Image

Team Kat was thrilled to attend another great Gathering in Gilchrist with Sheriff Bobby Schultz and other leaders from across the district. We also heard from new Attorney General James Uthmeier as one of his first events as newly appointed AG.

Thanks to Sheriff Schultz and the Gilchrist Sheriff's Office team for another great event we look forward to every year.
