Week of March 3, 2025
President Trump's First Joint Address To Congress

Dear Neighbor,

This week was the second of three busy weeks in Washington, D.C. President Trump delivered his first joint address to Congress of his second term on Tuesday night. He outlined his agenda for his second term and hosted several special guests, including a 13-year-old with brain cancer, parents of children killed by illegal immigrants, and more. If you missed the joint address, read below for a recap.

In the Energy & Commerce Committee this week, we held a hearing on Biden's broadband blunders and work the Trump administration is doing to close the digital divide. We also introduced the DIGITAL Applications Act with Democratic Rep. Doris Matsui to improve the federal permitting process for the Departments of Agriculture and the Interior. You can read more about that bill below.

We also met with Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins at his office on Tuesday. Secretary Collins is a former member of the House who has a passion for serving our nation's heroes. We spoke about the future of VA facilities in Florida's Third and the future of the Community Care program. We look forward to sharing more from this meeting in the coming days.

Finally, this week we celebrated 180 years of Florida! I'm proud to represent the best district in the best state in the nation.

With all that's happening this new Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

Introducing The DIGITAL Applications Act

Yesterday, I introduced the DIGITAL Applications Act, a bill to make it easier for the federal permitting process at the Departments of Agriculture and Interior to be completed online. This is a bipartisan effort with the House Energy & Commerce Committee and my colleague, Rep. Doris Matsui.

Meeting With New VA Secretary Doug Collins

Image

It was great meeting with VA Secretary Doug Collins this morning in Washington. Secretary Collins is an old friend who is leading the VA and working to ensure our veterans and their families receive the top-notch care and attention they deserve.

Secretary Collins hasn't stopped since being sworn in earlier this year, engaging VA leaders across the U.S. and learning more about where the VA can improve. We spoke about VA facilities in Florida's Third and the growth of Florida's veteran population.

Thank you, Secretary Collins and your team, for all you do on behalf of our nation's heroes.

Great to meet with three hometown heroes from Florida's Third in Washington this week. Members of Alachua County Local 3852 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) were in town for the IAFF's legislative conference, sharing more about the importance of supporting our first responders locally.

As the wife of a firefighter in partner Gainesville Fire Rescue, I am so grateful for all these folks do to support our communities and provide lifesaving resources daily. Thanks for visiting!
