Dear Neighbor,

This week Acting FEMA Administrator Cam Hamilton visited Cedar Key and Horseshoe Beach with me and FDEM Director Kevin Guthrie. After the failures by FEMA during our last hurricanes under the Biden administration, it's clear changes must be made to ensure our communities have the resources necessary to recover. 

During Acting Administrator Hamilton's visit, we spoke with stakeholders in Horseshoe Beach and Cedar Key about what our communities on the coast need most when disasters strike. It's clear a coordinated effort between local and state authorities isn't where problems lie, but rather when FEMA gets involved at the federal level. Our conversations were tremendously productive and I look forward to sharing more soon about what to expect this hurricane season. 

On Wednesday, several groups from around the district visited our Gainesville District Office. From Gainesville Democrats to the SPCA of Ocala, we had productive in-person conversations that will continue into the future. Thank you to everyone who visited and shared their perspectives with me and my team. 

Next week the House is back in session and we have several big announcements planned! Stay tuned to see the updates in next week's newsletter. 

Finally, our very own Florida Gators play tonight in Raleigh, NC in the first round of the NCAA March Madness Tournament. Tune in at 6:50pm on TNT to see them take on Norfolk State tonight. Go Gators!

Constituent Visits In Our Gainesville District Office

We had several great meetings with constituents and local organizations in our Gainesville office this week! We heard from local leaders and activists from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the Neighborhood Housing Development Corp., Gainesville Democrats, the SPCA of Ocala, and many more.

I always appreciate the opportunity to engage with the very people who sent me to our nation's capital. Productive relationships and conversations always begin face-to-face and I'm grateful for the opportunity to meet with the amazing people of Florida's Third.

Yesterday, Acting FEMA Administrator Cam Hamilton joined me and FDEM Director Kevin Guthrie in Horseshoe Beach and Cedar Key to tour some of the hurricane damage from last year. We had very productive conversations about discussing the three major storms and the challenges our elected officials have experienced with FEMA. More announcements to come!

I joined Liz MacDonald on the Evening Edit last night to discuss activist judges' against President Trump's authorized actions. There have been more injunctions against this president than any other this century. The Founding Fathers would be deeply disturbed about the failures to recognize the limits of this judicial power.
