Week of April 21, 2025
  A Busy In-District Week

Dear Neighbor,

This week was a very busy one with multiple meetings, site visits, and stops across Florida's Third Congressional District. After four busy months to kick off the new Congress in Washington, it's always refreshing to get back to God's country in North Central Florida.

We had several meetings in our Gainesville District Office with folks providing broadband service, engaging in philanthropic efforts, and preparing our communities for the upcoming hurricane season. Read more about these meetings below and stay tuned for more information next week as we recap all of our great visits and meetings.

As a reminder, our spring Service Academy Day will be on Saturday, May 17 from 9am-12pm at Buchholtz High School in Gainesville. Hear from representatives from each of our nation's service academies and learn more about our office's role in nominating young public servants for our prestigious military programs. With questions, please contact us in Gainesville at (352) 505-0838.

Next week is the first of four weeks the House is in session. Budget reconciliation remains the big focus for the House ahead of Memorial Day, so stay tuned as we share more details here and on our social media pages.

With all that's happening this new Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

Mail Call!

Had the opportunity to read dozens of letters we received at our Gainesville office. I'm always grateful for the chance to engage with constituents, even if many didn't include their contact information for a response. Even if we don't see eye-to-eye, we're always happy to engage with you. To share your contact information and to receive a response, visit our website here.

Community Foundation of North Central Florida

Image

I had the opportunity to meet with the Community Foundation of North Central Florida in Gainesville! The team works to support important organizations in our community by directing charitable dollars through grants and loans that steward the development of our region.

Thank you for taking the time to share more about your incredible work. We are grateful for all you do through the power of philanthropy.

Alachua County Emergency Management

Image

This week I sat down with David Peaton, the Assistant Director of Emergency Management for Alachua County! We discussed the upcoming hurricane season and how the county is preparing for possible storms later this year. We know how dangerous and deadly storms can be as our Florida waters heat up, which is why it's never too late to start planning.

Thank you to David and your team for joining us and sharing more about the county's proactive work.

AT&T of North Florida Visits

Image

Had a great meeting with Kevin Craig of AT&T of North Florida. We spoke about the company's work to expand fiber service to previously unserved or underserved parts of Florida's Third. Providing connectivity for all remains a top priority for me and our team, and I appreciate the work of all of our providers to make sure our constituents have the connectivity they need. Thanks for stopping by!

Lake Butler Rotary Club

Team Kat was proud to attend the Lake Butler Rotary Club's Saddle Up Soiree in Union County. The Rotary Club does such great work to support our community, so we were glad to celebrate them and their efforts in service. Here's to another great year of service ahead!

Democrats Prefer Illegals Over Their Own Constituents

Image

Democrats have been taking taxpayer-funded trips to El Salvador because they're more interested in defending illegal criminals than protecting their own constituents.

President Trump is doing everything he can to make our nation safe again, including deporting illegal immigrants who are here unlawfully. The House continues to work on legislation that will strengthen our southern border and codify efforts to bolster our national security. The Senate must continue to act to make sure our important work is permanent.
