Week of May 19, 2025
The Gators Visit Washington & Passing The Big Beautiful Bill Act

Dear Neighbor,

This week was the final week of four long weeks in Washington. While at the end of a long sprint, House Republicans met our goal of delivering the One Big, Beautiful Bill to the Senate. After very early morning votes and debate on Thursday morning, by 7am Thursday, we passed this important bill out of the House and sent it to the Republican Senate before it makes its way to President Trump's desk. Stay tuned for important updates on this bill after the Memorial Day recess week.

Additionally, our beloved 2025 National Champion Florida Gators visited the U.S. Capitol and the White House this week. I was honored to lead them around the Capitol for a tour before meeting President Trump at the White House for an official recognition ceremony. We are so proud of our Gators and know it's always great to be a Florida Gator. Check out some of the photos below—including Speaker Mike Johnson doing a Gator Chomp (even as an LSU Tigers fan)!

Next week is a recess week and I'm looking forward to being back in the district. We'll be making stops and visits across Florida's Third and will have more to share after all of our meetings. Stay tuned.

Finally, this Monday is Memorial Day. We take a moment to stop and honor our fallen servicemembers who gave their lives in service to our nation. Please join us in saying a prayer for our heroes and their families who have defended the Stars and Stripes.

With all that's happening this new Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on XFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For the Republic,

The National Champs Visit Washington

Image

On Wednesday, the 2025 National Champion Florida Gators visited Washington, D.C. for a tour of the U.S. Capitol and a ceremony at the White House with President Trump. It was so exciting to welcome the Gators to the People's House and to celebrate all of their success this season. It's great to be a Florida Gator!

Recognizing Memorial Day

Image

With Memorial Day on Monday, we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country and our freedoms. A debt we will never be able to repay, we keep these heroes and their families in our prayers this weekend, for this isn't the unofficial start to summer or a perfect day for a backyard barbecue, but a day to pause and reflect on the values we hold dear and those willing to put their lives on the line for the stars and stripes.

Please join us in saying a prayer for all of our fallen servicemembers ahead of Memorial Day.

Passing The One Big Beautiful Bill

Image

On Thursday morning after hours of debate into the night, we passed H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act!

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act keeps our promise to the American people and delivers President Trump's agenda. We've worked for months on this bill, working together to deliver the best package for the American people that puts our nation's safety, security, and economic prosperity first.

We're delivering on our promises to secure the border, make generational investments in our nation's defense, unleash America's energy potential to lower costs, avoid the largest tax increase in U.S. history for American families, strengthen Medicaid to ensure it serves its intended population, and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse from the federal government.

I'm proud to share that components of my signature legislative priority—the REINS Act—are included in H.R. 1, requiring congressional approval of major executive branch rules that increase federal spending. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to restore Article I power back to the legislative branch and stop the rampant regulatory regime from running wild. No language drains the swamp, empowers the people, or puts as much money back in Americans' pockets as REINS. When many believed it couldn't be included in this historic legislation, we worked hard to find a viable path forward to secure these necessary reforms for Florida's Third and the American people.

I am grateful to my colleagues for working together to deliver this win and look forward to our senators' support for this historic legislation.

Newberry Watermelon Festival

The Newberry Watermelon Festival and Parade is always a great time with even better people. Being nearly seven months pregnant, they wouldn’t let me ride on top of the fire truck so I settled for the cab (thanks, Newberry Fire Rescue)! Loved seeing so many people out enjoying the day, and of course, fresh watermelon! Thanks to all the wonderful organizers and volunteers who made the day possible!
