Dear Neighbor,

Congress may be in recess, but the work doesn't stop!

Last week, I traveled across North Central Florida, stopping in communities from top to bottom to meet with my friends all throughout Florida's Third District. From Bradford down to Dixie and everywhere in between, it was a week full of listening, learning, and working alongside the people who make FL-03 the best district in the nation.

Whether it was touring local farms and ranches, celebrating new investments in our communities, checking in with the folks who keep us safe every day, or rolling up my sleeves and working with small business owners, each stop gave me the opportunity to connect with the people and businesses that keep our communities running and Florida’s culture thriving.

That’s what recess is all about: getting out of Washington, working in the district, and hearing directly from the people I represent.

There’s a lot happening across North Central Florida, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it, hearing directly from the people doing the work, and taking those conversations back to Washington.

For the Republic,

Breakfast with Bradford County Elected Officials

The best way to understand what FL-03 needs is to get out into the community and talk directly with the people on the ground.

I started the week in Starke, where I met with Bradford County elected officials and city leaders to hear directly from the people who keep our local communities strong.

Local leaders know their communities best, and these conversations help me take their voices back to Washington and fight for the resources and policies they need.

As your representative, I will always keep fighting to ensure rural Florida has a seat at the table.

Bradford Sportsmen Farm Visit

I also visited Bradford Sportsmen Farm in Hampton to see firsthand the work being done to support Florida's outdoor heritage.

Businesses like these are an important part of what makes our rural communities special. These communities are built on hard work, local leadership, and people who take pride in where they live.

As a strong defender of the Second Amendment, I’ll always stand with the Floridians who work to preserve these traditions and protect our way of life. I’ll keep making sure their voices are heard in Washington.

UF's Autodesk Design and Make Laboratory Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Image

I spent a lot of time with the Gator Nation last week, seeing firsthand how the University of Florida is driving cutting-edge research, innovation, and opportunity right here in North Central Florida.

I joined UF leaders at the ribbon cutting of the new Autodesk Design and Make Laboratory, the most advanced robotics lab in the U.S. dedicated to industrialized construction.

Facilities like this give students the chance to move beyond the classroom and gain hands-on experience with the tools and technology shaping the future of the construction industry. This kind of investment keeps America competitive, creates new opportunities, and prepares the next generation of innovators to lead.

America’s future depends on American innovation. That starts by giving students the opportunity to build, create, and solve real problems.

University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Plant Science Research and Education Unit Tour

I had a great time visiting the UF/IFAS Plant Science Research and Education Unit in Citra with my friend, Congressman Byron Donalds. We got to see up close the innovative agricultural research that's happening right here at home.

UF/IFAS is leading the way by delivering innovation that helps Florida growers tackle labor challenges and get real solutions to the field faster. This unit strengthens our food supply, supports rural communities, and keeps American agriculture competitive for generations to come.

As the lone Florida representative on the House Agriculture Committee, it is my mission to deliver real results to ensure our farmers, ranchers, and agricultural researchers have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce Small Business Roundtable

Image

I sat down with the Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce and local small business owners to hear directly about the challenges and opportunities they’re facing.

We talked about rising costs, workforce needs, regulatory burdens, and the infrastructure required to support growth. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and supporting them starts with listening.

As your representative, I’ll keep working to cut red tape, bring down costs, and create more opportunity for the hardworking people of FL-03.

Brooks Dockside Seafood Visit

Image

On Thursday, I started the morning with my friends at Brooks Dockside Seafood in Inglis, where I saw firsthand the hard work that goes into getting Florida's fresh seafood from the water to our tables. I learned all about their incredible operation and even tried my hand at filleting some red snapper!

Florida’s commercial fishermen and seafood businesses are a vital part of our state’s economy and way of life. The work they’re doing to advance sustainable fisheries in the Gulf will have a lasting impact for generations to come. I’m grateful for the hardworking men and women who keep Florida's seafood industry thriving.

The Morning Show with Preston Scott

On Tuesday, I joined I joined my friend Preston Scott for a great conversation about what I’m hearing from folks across FL-03 during August recess.

We covered a lot of ground: from the growing threat of socialism in America and the latest developments with Iran to protecting Social Security and making sure hardworking Americans can keep more of what they earn.

I’m always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from the people I represent and bring the voices of North Central Florida to the national stage.
