Catch Up With Kat | Week of September 28, 2026

Dear Neighbor,

It was another busy week in Florida's Third, and I spent it with the people who make North Central Florida such a special place to call home.

This week, I secured more than $3 million to keep homeless veterans in Ocala and Gainesville housed, fought for greater accountability in the People’s House, and called attention to the challenges facing Florida’s farmers as we work to break through gridlock in the Senate.

From celebrating leaders for their dedicated service to our community to bringing healthcare leaders together and enjoying some Friday night football, this week was all about showing up, listening, and fighting for the people I'm proud to represent. I was also honored to send veterans from North Central Florida to D.C. for the First Coast Honor Flight, a chance to recognize the heroes who sacrificed so much in service to our nation.

Whether I'm in Washington or on the road across North Central Florida, my job is the same: get results for the people I represent and make sure your voices are heard.

As always, thank you for the trust you place in me to serve as your voice in Washington.

For the Republic,

First Coast Honor Flight

It was an honor to join First Coast bright and early to help send off an incredible group of veterans traveling to Washington, D.C., for an Honor Flight celebrating their service and sacrifice.

Among them was David “Marty” Best of Starke, a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and proudly calls Florida’s Third home. I had the chance to thank Marty and his fellow veterans before they departed for our nation's capital.

Honor Flights give our veterans the opportunity to visit the memorials built in their honor, at no cost to them. It was a privilege to be part of their send-off and remind these American heroes just how grateful we are for their service and sacrifice.

May God bless our veterans and the United States of America!

Healthcare Roundtable

Image

I brought local and statewide healthcare leaders together at our Gainesville District Office  for a roundtable on the challenges facing providers and patients across North Central Florida.

From expanding access to care in our rural communities to addressing the challenges facing
providers on the front lines, these conversations give me an opportunity to hear directly from the
people who know our healthcare system best.

I'll take what I heard back to Washington as we work to lower costs and strengthen care for families across Florida's Third.

Sergeant Stephen Girard's Retirement Ceremony

Image

I was honored to join the Gainesville Police Department in celebrating the retirement of Sergeant Stephen Girard after more than 32 years of dedicated service to GPD and our North Central Florida community.

To recognize his decades of service, I presented Sergeant Girard with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor. His final radio sign-off was a powerful reminder of the men and women who answer the call every day, and of the dispatchers always on the other end of the line.

Congratulations on an incredible career, Sergeant Girard, and thank you for your service to our community!

Trenton HS vs. Bell HS Football Game

Image

There’s nothing like Friday night football in North Central Florida! I had a great time joining the Trenton Tigers and Bell Bulldogs for their hometown rivalry game and kicking off the night with the coin toss.

Friday night football is a tradition that brings our communities together, and it was great to see the stands packed with students, families, and neighbors cheering on their teams.

Thank you to the players, coaches, and fans for the warm welcome! Congratulations to Trenton High School on their 42–14 win. Go Tigers!

Cammack Secures Housing Funds for Gainesville, Ocala Veterans

Image

When I learned that homeless veterans in Ocala and Gainesville were at risk of losing their housing, my team and I immediately went to work.

I worked directly with VA Secretary Doug Collins and VA leadership to secure more than $3 million in alternative funding to ensure homeless veterans in Ocala and Gainesville would not lose access to critical housing services.

The funding will support 36 beds at Ritz Veterans Village in Ocala and 18 beds in Gainesville, helping ensure the veterans who served our country continue to have a safe place to call home. We made a promise to our veterans, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure we keep it.

NewsNation "Batya!"

Image

I joined Batya Ungar-Sargon to discuss the growing financial pressure facing America’s farmers and the need for Washington to get moving on policies that provide them with certainty and relief.

Farmers across Florida and the country are being squeezed by rising input costs and increasingly difficult operating conditions, and I hear directly from producers in my district about the challenges they are facing.

Florida’s farmers work too hard to be left waiting on Washington. I’ll keep fighting to make sure they have the certainty, support, and tools they need to keep their operations running and continue feeding America.
