Dear Friend,
I’m continuing to work closely with federal, state and local officials to monitor and fight the coronavirus in our community. There has been a lot of new information about the coronavirus and our community’s response, so I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss anything:
Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Update: Yesterday, President Trump signed phase 3.5 of the CARES Act to which replenishes the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses, strengthens our hospitals and expands testing, all of which are critical to beating this invisible enemy. Here’s what’s inside:
For businesses still looking to apply, here’s the application and the list of participating lenders by state.

CARES Act Helping Students: On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Education announced K-12 schools will receive $13.2 billion in additional funding to help support continued learning during this pandemic. Our students deserve to have every opportunity for a good education, no matter where their learning takes place and I’m glad to see this funding from the CARES Act go towards helping our K-12 students stay on the path to academic success!
Stimulus Check Update: The Treasury Department and the IRS just announced 88 million individuals have received payments worth nearly $158 billion nationwide in the program’s first three weeks. Of that $158 billion, roughly 6,300 Floridians received more than $11 billion. Click here to get an update on your payment status.
Local Government Update:
Florida K-12 schools will continue distance learning and remain physically closed until the end of this school year. Parents and students should visit their school district’s website for more information on closures and distance learning guidelines:
