Dear Friend,

This weekend, we celebrate America’s 244th birthday. While this year’s Fourth of July celebrations will look a little different in our community, I hope each of you will take time this weekend to remember how blessed we are to live in the greatest nation on earth. 

I also wanted to share some information on what’s open and closed in each county and how you can still celebrate this Fourth of July weekend while remaining safe.

Volusia County:

  • Mask mandates in Volusia County:
    • Daytona Beach has issued mandatory mask requirements
    • New Smyrna Beach has issued mandatory mask requirements
      • Applies inside and outside when you cannot socially distance
    • DeLand has issued mandatory mask requirements 
  • Fourth of July fireworks and celebrations:
    • Daytona Beach: Fireworks have been canceled and Friday/Saturday night concerts at the Daytona Beach Bandshell are postponed until July 10
    • DeLandThe Firecracker Festival has been canceled but will most likely be rescheduled for Labor Day weekend
    • Deltona: Fireworks have been postponed until Labor Day weekend
    • Edgewater: The EDGEfest 4th of July Celebration has been canceled (date for a rescheduled event will be determined at a later date)
    • New Smyrna Beach: Fireworks have been postponed until further notice
    • Ormond Beach: Fireworks have been postponed until Labor Day weekend
    • Port Orange: Fireworks have been postponed until further notice but in the meantime, Port Orange will be celebrating virtually
  • Volusia County beaches will remain OPEN for the Fourth of July weekend. Social distancing is required and other beach regulations remain the same. Here’s what you can and can’t do:
    • Beach Driving: Cars are allowed to drive onto Volusia County beaches from all 23 ramps
    • Small Groups: People may not congregate in groups of more than six people
    • Social Distancing: Groups setting up camp — blankets, chairs, umbrellas, tents — must remain 10 feet apart from others
    • Parks and Parking: Coastal parks are open (some at less than full capacity), including: 
      • Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach
      • Wisteria Road parking lot in Daytona Beach
      • Dahlia Avenue Park in Daytona Beach Shores
      • Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet 
      • Smyrna Dunes Park in New Smyrna Beach 
    • Restrooms and showers: Open in county-operated coastal and inlet parks
  • Free face coverings available at 4 locations: The Florida Department of Health is offering face coverings at four different sites in Volusia County. These free face coverings are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at:
    • 421 South Keech Street in Daytona Beach
    • 1845 Holsonback Drive in Daytona Beach
    • 121 Rich Avenue in DeLand
    • 775 Harley Strickland Boulevard in Orange City

Flagler County:

St. Johns County:

  • St. Johns County beaches are open for exercise and sunbathing
    • CDC guidelines and social distancing restrictions remain in place
  • Ocean and Fishing Pier is open to the public 
    • The gift shop and visitor information center is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, during the summer season
  • St. Johns County Park, Rec and Beach Facilities: Now open for reservations, including park and beach pavilions, beach volleyball courts, athletic fields, tennis, pickleball, and paddleball courts, and fairgrounds and recreation center amenities.
  • Emergency Operations Center remains open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday (904) 824-5550

Lake County:

  • Fourth of July fireworks and celebrations:
    • Mount Dora: The Freedom on the Waterfront celebration has been canceled
    • Eustis: Fireworks will take place over Lake Eustis this Friday, July 3rd starting at 9:30 p.m. Be sure to continue to practice social distancing and stay 6 feet apart from others.
