News from Representative Waltz

Dear Friend,

Thank you for reading my newsletter! My team and I continue to work for you and our community. It was a very eventful week and I’m excited to tell you about what we accomplished. Here are some highlights:

  • I wrote a letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requesting a full briefing on foreign election interference in the 2020 election
  • President Trump signed two bills into law to support veterans’ mental health
  • I celebrated the grand opening of the Florida National Guard’s new Air Defense Artillery Armory in Palm Coast
  • I was named a Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) for supporting small businesses
  • I introduced legislation to finally hold China accountable for its malign behavior

PROTECTING OUR ELECTIONS: This week, FBI Director Wray announced that Russia and Iran have actively interfered in our election. What our adversaries want most is to sow chaos and discord and for America to be in complete turmoil after Election Day. We’ve seen this in Flagler County and across Florida as Iran sends threatening emails to intimidate voters. Voters deserve to know when elections’ systems are infiltrated and need to feel confident in our ability to protect their votes and our election systems. This is why I sent a letter with Rep. Stephanie Murphy to the FBI for a full briefing on the extent of foreign intervention in the 2020 election. This information is critical if we want to protect our elections and our democracy moving forward.

SUPPORTING VETS’ MENTAL HEALTH: As a veteran, I know firsthand that mental health is an issue veterans struggle with, which is why I’ve been advocating for better mental healthcare for our veterans and military. I was so glad to see President Trump sign two bills into law providing veterans access to mental health resources, including a new three-digit emergency suicide prevention crisis number. I’ve been working with veterans groups like Mission Roll Call to advocate for and PASS these measures and I’m so thrilled to see President Trump taking the final step needed to help our heroes by signing these bills into law!

FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD OPENS UP PALM COAST ARMORY: From World War II to hurricane cleanup, the Florida National Guard has a long history of stepping up and helping our community. Last week, I helped the Guard open their new Air Defense Artillery Armory in Palm Coast, which will ensure they’re ready to keep answering the call to serve. Go Guard!

FIGHTING FOR OUR SMALL BUSINESSES: As a former small business owner, fighting for small business is something I care a lot about and has been a focus since I’ve been in Congress. I was honored to be named a Guardian of Small Business by the NFIB for my pro-small business voting record. I’m still fighting for small businesses in Congress, which is why I’m continuing to push for a House vote to release billions of unused Paycheck Protection Program funds to give to small businesses.

HOLDING CHINA ACCOUNTABLE: China has been actively infiltrating our colleges and universities to steal our research and technology for years. This week, I introduced a bill with the China Task Force to combat China’s malign influence operations, including espionage and theft in our universities. We must put an end to this bad behavior once and for all – and China and the universities accepting illegal funding must be held accountable.
