Dear Friend,
Thank you for reading my newsletter! My team and I continue to work for you and our community. It was a very eventful week and I’m excited to tell you about what we accomplished. Here are some highlights:
- I introduced a resolution in the House to boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing if the International Olympics Committee (IOC) refuses to move it
- I led a human trafficking prevention roundtable discussion with fellow Florida elected officials, activists, Law Enforcement Officers and the Department of Homeland Security
- I sent a letter with my House Republican colleagues asking for a Science, Space and Technology (SST) Committee hearing concerning reopening schools
- I sent a letter with eight of my colleagues to President Biden urging his administration to keep from imposing an interstate travel ban
BOYCOTTING 2022 BEIJING WINTER OLYMPICS: In 2022, China looks to bring in BILLIONS from hosting the Winter Olympics despite the mass internment of ethnic minorities, like the Muslim Uighur in Xinjiang, imprisonment of international journalists and democracy activists in Hong Kong, AND China’s coronavirus coverup. No American flag should fly in China while this bloodshed and genocide takes place.
That’s why I introduced a resolution in the House urging the U.S. boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing due to the genocide and gross human rights abuses occurring in China right now unless the location is moved. China’s Communist Party should not receive the legitimacy the Olympics bring. We must boycott the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Read more:
WORKING TOGETHER TO END HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Right now, human trafficking is the fastest-growing criminal activity in America. Last year, Florida had the third-highest human trafficking rate nationwide. On Thursday, I led a discussion with local advocates, Law Enforcement Officers, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and elected officials, including U.S. Congresswoman Kat Cammack and Florida Senator Tom Wright. Together we can put an end to modern day slavery once and for all in Florida.

REOPENING OUR SCHOOLS: Last August, Governor DeSantis proved we could reopen school safely by giving Florida families the option to continue virtual learning or have their kids go back to brick-and-mortar school. This decision was made with the well-being of both the kids and their families, unlike the decision made by Blue-State governors to keep their schools closed.
This week, I joined my Republican colleagues on the Science, Space and Technology Committee requesting a hearing on the scientific and factual information concerning reopening schools and the negative impact prolonged virtual learning has had on students. Read our letter here.
PREVENTING AN INTERSTATE TRAVEL BAN: If this past year has taught us anything, it’s that Florida has become the model for balancing both the health and safety of ALL of its citizens AND rebuilding our economy. But now, we’re hearing President Biden’s administration is considering an interstate travel ban.
Restricting travel to Florida would be detrimental to the progress we’ve already made -- and that’s why my colleagues and I sent a letter to President Biden urging him to make it clear his administration will not seek to impose a travel ban among the states. Read our letter here.
