Listening to Floridians
Dear Friends:
The Biden border crisis rages on as U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reports in fiscal year 2023, CBP encountered a record 2.48 million illegal aliens at our southern border, 1 in addition to nearly 670,000 so-called got-a-ways. On average, that’s more than 8,400 illegal aliens entering our country every single day. Just last month, there was 302,034 migrant encounters, the highest month ever recorded. I’ve been to the southern border and seen firsthand how it is and CBP is at a breaking point. President Biden has used his executive authority least 64 times to intentionally to undermine and weaken our border security. The President with his Executive Orders and failure to enforce the law created the border crisis!
Yesterday, the House Homeland Security Committee released articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Mayorkas for his willful and continued refusal to comply with federal law. The Committee's year-long investigation found that Secretary Mayorkas is chiefly responsible for the chaos and crisis at our southern border. This weekend, we learned that a known terrorist who attempted to enter the United States illegally through our wide open Southern Border was subsequently released into the United States where he was allowed to freely roam for nearly a year because President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas’ embrace of the Far Left’s open border policies. The House Homeland Security Committee will meet at 10am on Tuesday to advance the impeachment, which I fully support! Securing our borders is one of my top priorities, and I am determined as ever to keep pushing the U.S. Senate and White House to embrace policies and legislation that sensibly reforms our immigration laws.
Holding United Nations Accountable
For years, the Biden Administration ignored me, and my colleagues calls to require UN reforms, and instead restarted funding United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) although there has been extensive evidence of widespread and systemic anti-Israel bias. Last week, after 12 employees of the UNRWA were found to be involved in the October 7th terrorist attack on Israel, President Biden finally adopted President Trump’s policy of suspending their funding. U.S. taxpayers should not be funding an agency that is aiding and abetting acts of terrorism!
Seeing and Serving You
Cindy Brown, my Community Relations Representative for the Villages, recently joined Pat Breeden, Sumter County Undersheriff, Captain Robert Siemer, and 60 advocates from The Villages Friends of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches Club for a meeting at the Ezell Recreation Center. The meeting focused on how the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches and Camps serve the youth and help change lives throughout the state. Cindy also met with Villagers who support and advocate for the Youth Ranches, including Savannah, the first female Rancher to win the prestigious Tweed Award, which recognizes a Youth Rancher for their positive academics, behavior, character, and leadership. I’ve visited Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches several times and seen firsthand the incredible impact that have on our young people. Thank you, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, for “Mending Lives, Healing Hearts”!

Creative Corner Market is a place for small business creatives to connect with shoppers, with over 40 vendors utilizing the market to display and sell their products. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and congratulations to Linda and Stacy for providing a venue for small businesses and customers to connect!

Pam Jones, my Community Relations Representative in Lake County, recently attended the Lake County School Board meeting with Lake County Schools Superintendent Diane Kornegay, and Board Members: Chairman Mollie Cunningham, Tyler Brandeburg, Marc Dodd, Stephanie Luke, and Bill Mathias. Lake Sumter State College announced they will now offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Superintendent Kornegay and fellow board members congratulated Board Member Ms. Luke on her hard work and collaboration with Dr. Heather Bigard, President of LSSC, to bring this program to fruition. Board Members also congratulated Superintendent Kornegay on her 7th anniversary with Lake County Schools, which serves 42,000 students.

Pam also attended the National School Choice Week Event at the Hope Preparatory Academy in Groveland with Principal Tawanda Odom. Pam shared a message on my behalf thanking them for giving families an opportunity to choose a private Christian school. From passing Florida’s first school choice bill, to voting to pass H.R. 5, the Parent’s Bill of Rights Act, I have fought to give parents a strong voice in their child’s education. I believe every parent should be empowered to send their child to the school of their choice – public, private, online, or homeschool. I will continue to empower every parent with a voice and choice in their child’s education.

Recently, Pam attended several ribbon cutting ceremonies throughout the district with the West Orange County Chamber of Commerce and South Lake Chamber.
In West Orange County, Pam attended the West Orange Ribbon Cutting for Christian Brothers Automotive. This location joins owners Bryce Merideth’s other auto shops in Clermont and East Orlando. Mr. Merideth and General Manager Chris Young welcomed Ocoee Mayor Rusty Johnson, City Commissioner Rosemary Wilsen, chamber members and other guests and all celebrated the opening of the new Christian Brothers Automotive Ocoee location.
Joining the South Lake Chamber, Pam celebrated the ribbon cutting of The Touch 4 Health & Wellness with Chamber Executive David Colby. The Touch 4 Health & Wellness offers services for drug-free pain management and corrective skincare. Pam also attended the opening for the White Clover Studio, a luxury hair salon that offers a boutique style environment.
It’s great to celebrate the companies and organizations that continue to bring quality services and jobs to our community.
Your servant,
Daniel Webster Member of Congress
