The Webster Wire
Listening to Floridians
Dear Friends:
Tomorrow night, President Trump will deliver his State of the Union address to share with the American people the historic progress that has been made. Under the President’s leadership, the State of the Union is strong, and only getting stronger.
Under the failed policies of the Biden-Harris administration, our nation faced a historic border crisis, inflation that surged to 9%, rising interest rates that put homeownership out of reach, and a foreign policy that projected weakness instead of strength.
Today, the contrast is clear. Under President Trump’s leadership, we have secured the border and restored the rule of law. Inflation has fallen to 2.4%, mortgage rates have fallen to a three-year low, and American energy has been unleashed to deliver lower costs for hardworking families. On the world stage, President Trump has restored Peace through Strength, ending eight wars around the world while putting American interests first.
I have worked in Congress to support President Trump’s America First agenda. Last summer, I voted to pass the Working Families Tax Cuts, delivering historic tax relief to middle- and working-class Americans. These tax cuts are putting more money back in the pockets of seniors, families, hardworking Americans and small businesses.
We’ve come a long way, but there is more work to be done. I will continue fighting in Congress to advance commonsense policies that lower costs and make health care more affordable, reform burdensome regulations so America can build again, and secure American elections so that only American citizens vote in American elections. The Great American Comeback is underway, and we will continue building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous United States.

Defending Family Values
Every year, FRC Action, the legislative affiliate of the Family Research Council, scores each member of congress on their voters to protect faith, family, and freedom. I was honored to recently receive the One Hundred Percent Award in recognition of my work to support these values in Congress.
Ensuring our children’s and grandchildren’s future is built on the same freedoms we cherish requires us to stand firm on protecting our values. I will continue to support policies that protect the sanctity of life, defend religious freedom, and strengthen family values.

Recently, I toured The Villages High School to meet with students and tour the campus. During my visit, I met with a group of political science students, visited the athletic department and culinary kitchen and restaurant on campus. It was great to meet and speak with the students and young leaders that will shape America’s future.

Earlier this month, I visited World Electric Supply, an electrical distributor in Wildwood to meet with Branch Manager Burt Rice. During my visit, Burt gave me a tour of the location, and we spoke about the growth in the industry across central Florida. It’s great to see firsthand how pro-growth policies continue to fuel opportunity in our community.

Recently, I visited Teamont Boba in downtown Clermont, a business opened by Juliana Green. Juliana graduated from Lake Sumter State College’s nursing program and went on to become the manager of the Cardiovascular Service line at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital. She took a leap of faith and opened her first business, Teamont Boba in downtown Clermont during the pandemic in 2020. Her husband, a contractor and carpenter, has helped her along the way, and she has now opened her 7th business.

On February 22, 1819, the United States secured Florida through the Adams-Onís Treaty – a diplomatic achievement that expanded our nation, strengthened our southern border, and secured strategic control of vital ports. Spain’s once-vast colony, first claimed in 1513 when Juan Ponce de León arrived on its shores, had become a source of instability through decades of imperial conflict. After changing hands during the French and Indian War and being returned to Spain following the Revolutionary War, Florida remained vulnerable as Spain weakened during the Napoleonic Wars.
Amid unrest in West Florida – including a brief declaration of independence from Americans living there – President James Madison recognized the strategic risks of foreign influence so close to our shores. After further conflict and persistent diplomacy, Secretary of State John Quincy Adams had reached an agreement to secure East and West Florida in return for claims in Texas and assumed $5 million of Spanish debt.

Daniel Webster Member of Congress
