News From Congressman Bilirakis
Co
June 22, 2025
Dear Neighbor,
For years, the Iranian regime has openly called for the destruction of Israel and the United States, sponsored terrorism across the globe, attacked American interests, and fueled the spread of radical Islamist ideology. In the face of such persistent aggression, the United States had no choice but to take decisive action to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear-armed state. I commend President Trump for authorizing targeted strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities—an essential step toward preserving both regional and global security. And I am grateful to the brave men and women who executed this mission with skill and precision. We stand firmly with our ally Israel in confronting this shared threat. Peace and stability in the Middle East depend on strong, decisive action—and that action has now been taken. Hopefully, Tehran will recognize that its best path forward lies not in escalation or confrontation, but in choosing diplomacy, de-escalation, and a commitment to lasting peace.
It has been a productive District Work Week, providing valuable opportunities to hear directly from many neighbors about the challenges their families are facing and the progress they’d like to see in Washington, D.C. These conversations play a critical role in shaping my legislative priorities. Over the past week, I held office hours to meet one-on-one with constituents, attended several community events, and hosted a tele-townhall with more than 5,000 participants. It was a great opportunity to share updates on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) as well as the conflict between Israel and Iran and to listen to thoughtful input on how we can work together to address the issues impacting our community. Keep reading for a brief recap of my efforts on your behalf last week.
Restoring an America First Agenda:
There is a great deal of noise as liberals try to derail our efforts to restore an America First agenda. I’m committed to dispelling misinformation with truth.
In addition to cracking down on illegal immigration and stopping illegals from obtaining federal benefits, OBBBA is about restoring economic freedom, securing our future, and keeping promises made to the American people. OBBBA is a comprehensive legislative package designed to streamline federal permitting, rebuild core infrastructure, and repatriate critical supply chains. It also includes major energy reforms, pro-growth tax incentives, and measures to secure our southern border.
New
reports
show that in 2024, the US produced more energy than ever before. We will keep removing barriers to domestic energy production as we work to restore energy independence.
Additionally, according to a recent poll, 77% of Americans support using tax incentives to maintain and encourage manufacturing in the U.S., including in Puerto Rico. Americans shouldn’t have to rely on China and other adversarial countries for the lifesaving medication they need. Through my work as co-founder of the Domestic Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Caucus and as a senior member of the Health Subcommittee, I am working to strengthen our healthcare supply chains.
OBBBA is bold, wide-ranging, and exactly the kind of legislation we need right now. I support it because it delivers real results for the American people. It cuts red tape, creates jobs, boosts energy independence, and strengthens national security. Most importantly, it sends a message that America is serious about rebuilding—not just physically, but economically and strategically. I urge my Senate colleagues to expedite its passage so that the President can sign it into law as quickly as possible.

Reflecting on 250 Years of Service:
It was an incredible honor to attend last weekend’s 250th Army Birthday Ball! As we celebrate 250 years of courage, sacrifice, and service, we reflect on the proud legacy of the U.S. Army and the brave men and women who have defended our freedom generation after generation. Happy Birthday, U.S. Army — here’s to a legacy of excellence and many more years of strength and service!
Celebrating Success:
Congratulations to the following students: Andrew William Benjamin (USMMA), Jared Michael Hauschen (USAFA), Tyler James Holmes (USMMA), Draven Shane McCall (USMA), Erin Diane McDermott (USAFA), and Gabriel Amber-Kristina Rogers (USNA). Each received a nomination from me to attend a military service academy and will be starting this fall. It was an honor to celebrate with them, their families, and my service academy selection committee members at my annual Military Academy Appointment reception. I wish these bright, young leaders all the best as they start their journey in military service.
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team reaffirmed my support of first responders at the Hernando Chapter of the NYPD 10-13 Club.
My team also attended the HOPE for PEACE Breakfast in Pasco County to help raise awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence throughout our community.
Additionally, my team attended the Agriculture Alliance meeting held at Anson Nursery in Citrus County to learn about the needs of local farmers and growers.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this message from a constituent after helping schedule their family's White House tour.
The tour was AMAZING!!! We got a ton of photos!!! Thank you soooo much!!!
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office.
The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape.
Also, if you are planning to visit Washington, DC please give our office at least 90 days notice so we can help organize tours for you.
Remember, we are here to serve you!
Sincerely,
Gus Bilirakis
