Dear Neighbor:

From strengthening American manufacturing and cutting taxes, to investing in infrastructure, honoring first responders, supporting families, and empowering seniors, last week was another reminder of what we can accomplish when we focus on policies that put our communities first. Below is a brief update on the work I’m doing on your behalf.

Supporting Seniors Across:  It was wonderful to meet with seniors in Citrus, Hernando, and Pasco Counties who came out to learn about new tax relief and community resources available to them.  Across our district, seniors received updates on the new $6,000 senior tax deduction, benefits available through the Working Family Tax Credit, and local programs that help older adults live independently and with dignity. The strong turnout in every county underscores just how important these issues are.  Our seniors have worked hard, paid into the system, and helped build the communities we cherish today. Ensuring they can access the benefits they’ve earned - and the resources they need to thrive - remains one of my highest priorities.

Investing in Future Generations:  It was great to speak with parents in our community to share an exciting opportunity: the option to open a new investment account for their children as part of their 2025 tax return - helping families plan and invest in their children’s future.  You can learn more about how to help the children in your lives save for future success by reading my column here.

Promoting American-Made Products & Tax Relief:  In my most recent op-ed, I outlined our continued efforts to strengthen American manufacturing while delivering meaningful tax relief to hardworking families. By encouraging investment in American-made products and offering tax incentives for those who purchase American-made vehicles, we are supporting domestic jobs, strengthening our economy, and rewarding consumers who choose to buy American.  You can read the full op-ed here.

Last week, I also visited Castriota Chevrolet in Pasco County to highlight the new opportunity for taxpayers to deduct interest on the purchase of an American-made vehicle. This commonsense policy keeps jobs here at home while putting more money back into the pockets of Florida families.

Honoring our Heroes:  I was deeply honored to recognize the courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment of Hernando County’s first responders.  Every day, they put themselves on the line to keep our community safe, and we are truly grateful for their service.

Delivering Your Tax Dollars to Strengthen Local Infrastructure:  I am proud to have secured more than $20 million in federal grant funding in the FY2026 budget to support critical infrastructure and public safety improvements.  These investments will directly benefit Hernando County by strengthening roads, enhancing public safety capabilities, and modernizing essential services - ensuring our community remains safe, resilient, and prepared for the future.  Read more here.

Community Connection

I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.

At the Citrus County Chamber luncheon, they had the opportunity to hear directly from business owners about the challenges they are facing and the opportunities ahead. These conversations are invaluable in ensuring we are advocating for policies that support small businesses, promote economic growth, and strengthen our local workforce.

They were also encouraged by the inspiring success stories shared at the West Pasco Community Service Council Luncheon. It was uplifting to see firsthand the positive impact that local organizations and community partners are making in the lives of families throughout Pasco County.

Additionally, my team was proud to celebrate continued success and service at this month’s Sunrise Rotary meeting in Dade City. The dedication of civic leaders and volunteers who give back to their communities exemplifies the very best of what makes our district strong.

Constituent Corner

I recently received this message from a constituent after my team helped resolve a problem he was having with the IRS.

Thank you and your staff member James Grenelle for your assistance in getting my 2022 amended tax return successfully processed by the IRS.  I appreciate your dedication to helping your constituents with Federal agency issues.  Please keep up the excellent service you and your staff provide to the people of your district.

This  is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office.  The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape.  Also, if you are planning a trip to Washington, DC please let us know 90 days in advance so we can help make the most of your visit.   We are here to serve you!

Sincerely,
