Dear Neighbor,

As you may be aware, this weekend United States and Israeli militaries launched a major joint offensive against Iran, codenamed “Operation Epic Fury,” resulting in the confirmed death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and numerous senior officials.  As Operation Epic Fury advances, let us pause to pray for the courageous men and women in uniform, and for our trusted allies serving alongside them. May God guard them in harm’s way and grant them strength, wisdom, and safe return.

Last week was a powerful reminder of why public service matters. From honoring our nation’s heroes in Citrus County to meeting with local leaders in Washington and standing alongside families impacted by rare diseases, the mission has remained the same: serve our community, strengthen our nation, and ensure no one is left behind. I am grateful for every opportunity to listen, collaborate, and advance meaningful solutions for the people of Florida’s 12th District.  Continue reading for a brief recap of my efforts on your behalf last week.

Honoring Our Purple Heart Heroes:  I was truly honored to speak at this year’s Purple Heart event in Citrus County. Standing alongside the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation is both humbling and inspiring.  The Purple Heart is not just a medal - it is a symbol of courage under fire, resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity, and a profound love of country. It was a privilege to recognize these heroes and thank them, on behalf of our entire community, for the sacrifices they have made to protect our freedoms. Citrus County never forgets those who have served and sacrificed. I am deeply grateful to the organizers, families, and Veterans who made this meaningful event possible.

Strengthening Our Union:   Last week, President Trump delivered his State of the Union address after taking decisive action to secure our border and advance historic tax relief for American families. Americans who have already filed their returns are beginning to see the benefits of our America First policies firsthand. According to IRS data reported by CBS News, the average tax refund is nearly 11 percent higher so far this year - welcome news for hardworking families across our nation.

President Trump is leading the great American comeback. The State of our Union is strong - and growing stronger - and the American people are seeing real results from an America First agenda that puts them first. Seniors can now claim a new $6,000 deduction. Families are benefiting from an enhanced Child Tax Credit and children’s savings accounts. Workers are keeping more of what they earn, with no taxes on overtime or tips. Tax refunds are up, gas prices are down, inflation is cooling, and our border is secure.  Just as our American hockey teams and the many patriots recognized in the gallery demonstrated through their hard-fought victories, grit, determination, and faith in our country make all the difference. That same fighting spirit is fueling our national resurgence.  As we approach the United States Semiquincentennial - America 250 - we are reminded that 250 years of freedom, sacrifice, and American exceptionalism have prepared us for this moment. We honor our past by boldly shaping our future.  This is only the beginning. Together, we will continue building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous nation for generations to come. I will keep doing all I can to advance an America First agenda and deliver results for the American people.

Standing with Families During Rare Disease Week: Last week, we recognized Rare Disease Week and stood in solidarity with the millions of Americans and families affected by rare conditions. While each rare disease may impact a relatively small number of individuals, together they affect nearly 1 in 10 Americans. Behind every diagnosis is a story of resilience, determination, and hope. Patients, caregivers, researchers, and advocates work tirelessly to raise awareness, advance research, and improve access to treatments and support services.  Stories like that of Andrew Jedlicka, whose son is battling a rare genetic disorder, are heartbreaking reminders that far too many families face uncertainty, limited treatment options, and the overwhelming challenge of securing the care their loved ones desperately need.  As Co-Chair of the Congressional Rare Disease Caucus, I remain committed to advancing commonsense reforms that streamline FDA processes and remove unnecessary barriers to innovation. We must accelerate the development and approval of safe and effective treatments so families are not left waiting while precious time slips away. Every patient deserves urgency. Every family deserves hope. I will continue working to ensure groundbreaking research moves swiftly from the lab to the bedside for those who need it most.Image

Working with Local Leaders:  Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Pasco County’s elected officials during their visit to Washington, D.C. Sitting down face-to-face with leaders who are on the front lines of serving our community is always productive.  We had a thoughtful and forward-looking discussion about strengthening infrastructure and supporting responsible economic development. From transportation and public safety to long-term growth planning, our shared goal is clear: ensuring Pasco County remains a vibrant, opportunity-rich place to live, work, and raise a family. Strong partnerships between local, state, and federal leaders are essential to delivering results, and I look forward to continuing this collaboration.

I was also pleased to welcome Citrus County Commissioner Rebecca Bays to our nation’s capital last week. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss how we can work together to advance critical priorities back home. By collaborating across all levels of government, we can strengthen infrastructure, encourage smart growth, and ensure Citrus County continues to thrive for years to come.

Additionally, I had the meaningful opportunity to meet with constituents from across the Tampa Bay region who shared their heartfelt and unwavering belief that the United States must continue to stand firmly and proudly alongside Israel. They spoke with clarity and conviction about the importance of the U.S.–Israel alliance - a partnership grounded in shared democratic values, mutual security interests, and decades of strong cooperation. It was important for them to ensure their voices were heard and that America’s commitment to our ally remains resolute. I am always grateful to engage in thoughtful dialogue with members of our community who care deeply about America’s role on the global stage and the strength of our enduring alliances.

Fighting for Our Heroes:  I appreicated the chance at last week's State of the Union to speak with Secretary Pete Hegseth about passing the Major Richard Star Act. It's time to end the Wounded Veterans Tax and ensure our disabled combat Veterans receive the full benefits they've earned through their sacrifice.

Community Connection

I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.

My team had the opportunity to connect with veterans during a Veterans Fair in Pasco County, where they listened to concerns, shared information about federal resources, and thanked those who have proudly served our nation. Ensuring our veterans have access to the benefits and support they have earned remains one of our highest priorities.

My team also received a comprehensive update on the state of our region, engaging with local stakeholders about economic trends, infrastructure needs, and the issues most impacting our communities. Staying informed helps us better advocate for policies that promote growth and long-term stability.

Additionally, my team was honored to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Seven Rivers Elementary School in Citrus County. This exciting milestone represents an investment in our children, our educators, and the future of our community. Strong schools are the foundation of strong communities, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this new school will have for years to come.

Constituent Corner

I recently received this message from a constituent after my team helped resolve a problem he was having with his VA disability claim.

I just wanted to thank you and your office staff for helping me last year with my VA disability benefits. I got a chance to be on your townhall call with Sec. of the VA Doug Collins and he was great. I
appreciate everything you do to help and support of veterans in our area and nationally.

This  is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office.  The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape.  Also, if you are planning a trip to Washington, DC please let us know 90 days in advance so we can help make the most of your visit.   We are here to serve you!

Sincerely,
