Dear Patrick,
There’s hardly been a day this year when we haven’t heard of another community ripped apart by gun violence as dangerous assault weapons flood our streets. Whether it’s in Tulsa, Uvalde, Chicago, or Miami Gardens, no family should have to deal with the agony of burying their child or a loved one at the hands of weapons designed for war.
As Congress begin discussing further legislation to address the scourge of gun violence afflicting our country, I want to hear directly from you on this important topic.
Survey:
Should Congress pass limits on the purchase and sale of unlicensed, high-capacity, and dangerous assault weapons designed to kill?

Last week, I joined more than half of House Democrats signing onto a letter urging our leaders in the House to move with all urgency to advance legislation to address gun violence and protect ourselves and our families. None of us want to be the next community brought together in grief, and I stand ready and eager to vote on common-sense legislation. It’s an urgent priority and long overdue.

Delivering $1.7 Million for Body-Worn Cameras to Hollywood Police
Body cameras protect everybody by recording the truth for both our residents and police officers, alike. They provide every member of our community with the peace of mind of knowing that every interaction between our law enforcement officers and the public will be documented.
So, when I heard that Hollywood, FL was one of the few municipalities in the South Florida that still didn’t have access to body cameras for all their officers, I knew that I needed to act!
I’m proud to have delivered for Hollywood, FL by securing $1.7 million for body-worn cameras for Hollywood Police Department, and this week, I joined the City of Hollywood Commission to present them with a check for body cameras to invest in our public safety.
Especially over the past few years, communities have witnessed as the bonds between police officers and the public they serve have slowly been eroded. During and after the meeting, I heard from civic and law enforcement leaders in attendance about just how much these body cameras would improve the quality of policing and increase transparency.
Together, we are working hard to restore confidence in local law enforcement and support them in every way we can.
