Good afternoon 4th District Officials & Nonprofit Organizations,
We've had an exciting time together last month, as we celebrated our Week of H.O.P.E., August 12th-17th. Let's take a look at some of the wonderful memories we've created while making our district great!

To commence “ A Day in My Shoes," I visited Kate's Club and listened to the tremendous impact their services have on grieving children and families who have lost loved ones.

Throughout my visit, I took note of the positive impact that Kate's Club has had on grieving parents, and listened intently to their kids, as they described the emotional hurdles they face daily since losing beloved family members. The resiliency that I witnessed from meeting such fine young people gives me assurance that through their fortitude, they will inspire others, and spread hope to those that have lost it.

To close out this amazing week, I had the pleasure of honoring six nonprofit organizations during the 2024 Ceremony of H.O.P.E. CareNow Community Development Center (CareNow CDC), The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT), More Than Conquerors, Inc. (MTCI), Still Waters Sinfo-Nia, Families of Children Under Stress (FOCUS), and The Latin American Association (LAA) have all made meaningful contributions to Rockdale, Newton, & DeKalb Counties.

It was a privilege and honor to meet not only the leaders that spearhead these outstanding organizations, but it was also joyous to celebrate the occasion with their nonprofit staff and those that heavily rely on their services.

Last month was centered around hope, yet as we transition into a new season, September offers a perfect opportunity to reset physically, mentally, & emotionally. There is a distinct connection between helping other people elevate and improving one's self. To serve others effectively, whether through caregiving or community involvement, it is crucial to remember that you cannot pour from an empty cup. Therefore, we must strive daily to take care of our mental and physical health. It is for this reason that we are celebrating Self-Improvement Month. For the remainder of the month, let's set goals, create healthy boundaries, and acknowledge the small steps of improvement.
In an effort to continue supporting the well-being of our communities, please find below potential grant opportunities that you may find beneficial, as we all continue to serve this amazing district.
