Improving Access to Quality Child Care During COVID-19 Pandemic
Our nation’s child care capacity, already well below the country’s needs, is being devastated by COVID-19. This week I voted to pass the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act and the Child Care is Essential Act to deliver urgently needed relief to providers and working families. H.R. 7027 would stabilize the child care sector by creating a new $50B block grant program to support providers so that they can safely reopen and operate. H.R. 7327 would improve access to quality child care during the COVID-19 crisis by making the child and dependent care tax credit refundable and creating a 50 percent refundable payroll tax credit for child care providers. |
