News from Representative David Scott

March 19, 2021

Greetings,

I hope this message finds you well. As your Representative in Washington, I wanted to provide you with an update on what’s happening in Georgia’s Thirteenth District and in Washington, D.C.

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the 8 people who lost their lives due to the violent crimes committed in metro Atlanta earlier this week. May it echo across Georgia and the nation: We must expel hate and discrimination in all its forms.

COVID-19 Vaccine
Keeping our community safe and healthy is of the utmost priority to me. At the beginning of the month, I was joined by Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services and Clayton County Senior Services Department at Mundy’s Mill High School in Jonesboro, GA to distribute 500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to seniors in Clayton County.

"House Democrats heeded Americans’ calls for help by passing the American Rescue Plan. Together, we will put an end to this pandemic, rebuild our economy, safely send children back to school, and get Americans back to work," via @RepDavidScott on Twitter.

George Floyd Justice In Policing Act
For far too long, pleas for justice and reform have fallen by the wayside in Congress. I voted to pass H.R. 1280, the Justice In Policing Act to honor George Floyd and the countless individuals who lost their lives to police brutality, and to take a meaningful step towards reconstructing policing in the 21st Century.

Housing, Rental, Utility Assistance
Millions of Americans are struggling right now, and many families need assistance keeping a roof over their heads to protect their health. Learn more about available housing, rental, and utility assistance programs in your county:

*Note: Due to population size, Fayette County and Douglas County will receive rental assistance through the Georgia Department of Community Affair’s State of Georgia Program.

The CDC Eviction Moratorium has been extended until March 31, 2021, meaning that no one should be evicted solely for non-payment of rent until that date.
