In an op-ed for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Congressman David Scott addressed ongoing political attacks against the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
“I refuse to accept that our nation is one where brave men and women can put on a uniform and put their lives on the line to fight in deadly wars only to return home and be left to fight another war alone: a personal war against poverty and hunger... Veteran hunger must be met not with apathy but with action,” he wrote. |

Congressmen Scott, Turner, and Garbarino Reintroduce Bipartisan Bill to Protect Lifesaving Anesthesia Care for Veterans

Congressmen David Scott (GA-13), Mike Turner (OH-10) and Andrew Garbarino (NY-02) reintroduced the Protect Lifesaving Anesthesia Care for Veterans Act, bipartisan legislation to ensure that veteran patients in need of anesthesia continue to receive the most qualified and experienced care available by Department of Veterans’ Affairs physicians.
“I am pleased to once again introduce the Protect Lifesaving Anesthesia Care for Veterans Act to ensure our nation’s heroes and their families continue to receive the full industry-standard of quality care,” stated Congressman Scott. |

Congressman David Scott Questions the Bureau of Prisons on Excessive Solitary Confinement

Congressman David Scott was joined by Senator Elizabeth Warren and members of the House of Representatives in sending a letter to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) questioning the use of cruel and excessive solitary confinement within federal correctional facilities.
“I, along with this bicameral group of congressional leaders, stand united in our questioning of BOP Director Collette Peters to demand answers regarding the scope, application, and potential alternatives to solitary confinement in federal prisons. The practice is both cruel and ineffective,” stated Congressman David Scott. |
