Hi Viswajith,

Earlier today, the Administration paused funding for some federal grants and loans. There’s been a bit of a media frenzy around that announcement, so I wanted to provide some clarity as to what this may mean for you and your family.

According to additional guidance from the White House, this freeze will only impact programs related to foreign aid, nongovernmental organizations, diversity programs, gender ideology initiatives, or the Green New Deal.

Let me be clear: Any program that provides direct benefits to Americans will not be paused including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, funds for small businesses, farmers, Pell grants, Head Start, rental assistance, and other similar programs. Furthermore, current clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health will not be affected.

Our team and I will continue to monitor these changes. If there’s a specific program you’re concerned about, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office at 515-400-8180 or by visiting Nunn.House.Gov/Email-Zach.

My mission remains the same as it did on day one: to deliver Iowa common sense. I’ll continue to fight for bipartisan compromise to cut unnecessary federal spending while protecting the critical programs Iowans rely on.

As always, please reach out to our offices with any concerns, comments, or requests. Please also consider signing up for our weekly newsletter to get more updates on news relevant to our community.
