I’m writing to share an important update for businesses across our district.

Following the Supreme Court’s recent decision finding the Trump Administration’s tariffs unconstitutional and illegal, U.S. Customs and Border Protection launched a tariff refund portal to help eligible businesses recover costs they should never have had to pay. 

If your business paid tariffs on imported goods, you may be eligible for a refund. You can learn more HERE. 

Before coming to Congress, I was a manufacturer who kept hundreds of good-paying jobs in the Midwest, so I know the damage done by Trump's tariffs. In the months following “Liberation Day” last April, when Trump first announced his tariffs, manufacturing employment declined and our global allies were forced to seek out other markets.

Earlier this year, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office found that 95 percent of the costs from Trump’s tariffs have been paid by American consumers. The Joint Economic Committee found that the average American family has paid an extra $1,700 in tariff costs over the last year. 

And the truth is, it didn’t have to come to this. These tariffs were imposed without Congressional authority, sparking unnecessary trade conflicts and placing the burden squarely on American businesses and families. Instead of strengthening our economy, they created uncertainty, drove up costs, and undercut the very manufacturers they claimed to support.

I encourage eligible companies to take advantage of this refund opportunity and reclaim what they are owed. I’ll continue working in Congress to fight back against these reckless tariffs and support American businesses and consumers.
