Donald Trump said the quiet part out loud.

When asked about the economic impact of his war with Iran, Trump said, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation.” He doubled down saying, “Not even a little bit.”

Meanwhile, Americans are struggling with skyrocketing gas, diesel, and grocery prices.

Trump keeps claiming this conflict is about stopping Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. But according to Trump’s own intelligence, Iran remains about as close to developing a nuclear weapon as it was before he started this war.

And instead of relying on experienced diplomats and nuclear experts, Trump has handed critical negotiations to real estate dealers who lack the technical expertise required for the job.

As a Ph.D. physicist, I can tell you that Iran still possesses enough enriched uranium to build several Hiroshima-style weapons—which they did not have before Trump tore up the Iran Nuclear Deal. We cannot bomb away Iran’s knowledge of how to enrich uranium and build a nuclear weapon.

I have voted time and time again for a War Powers Resolution to rein in President Trump and end his war. House Republicans continue to block these resolutions and enable a rogue president—including as recently as yesterday.

As your representative in Congress, I’ll keep fighting to end this war, lower costs, and return to competent diplomacy for nuclear negotiations.
