I wanted to give you an update on Republicans’ latest move in Congress. Today, Republicans passed their budget reconciliation bill. It’s essentially a continuation of their so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” from last year, which cut health care and food assistance to pay for tax giveaways for the ultra-wealthy and additional funding for ICE.

This latest legislation—which will be signed into law by President Trump—does nothing to ease the cost of living crisis Americans are currently facing. Instead, it awards an additional $70 billion to ICE and CBP with no guardrails—on top of the $140 billion already given to these agencies in 2025. Together, that amounts to roughly $600 per American spent on a deeply unpopular immigration enforcement operation that puts both U.S. citizens and immigrants at risk.

At the same time, this legislation fails to rein in the Department of Justice’s $1.8 billion "Anti-Weaponization" slush fund, which would give taxpayer-funded payouts to anyone Trump chooses, including his family members, donors, and even January 6th cop killers. So while you follow the rules and pay higher prices for gas, groceries, and health care, Trump’s political allies get rewarded with your taxpayer dollars.

This level of corruption cannot continue to go unchecked by Congressional Republicans. As your Representative, I won’t stop fighting to lower costs, stand up for working families, and hold this Administration accountable.
