On July 4, 2025, Donald Trump signed Republicans’ so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” into law. This legislation slashed nearly $1 trillion from health care and food assistance programs that working families rely on, while handing $65 billion in tax breaks to billionaires. 

Nearly one year later, this legislation has done nothing to address the high cost of living that is crushing hardworking Americans, while people like Elon Musk have only gotten richer.

One year later, I am proud that I voted NO on this legislation. I believe your hard-earned tax dollars should go toward making your life better and more affordable, not subsidizing Trump’s billionaire friends and family.

In Congress, I will keep fighting to help the people of Illinois access quality and affordable health care, lower the high cost of living, and put a stop to the corruption that’s driving up costs and undermining our democracy.
