Our Haiti TPS Extension Passes the House

Dear Neighbor,

With a successful week in Washington D.C. complete, I wanted to share that we have secured a major victory in the House of Representatives, passing critical legislation to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti by a vote of 224-204.

This win, which we accomplished with support from Democrats and Republicans alike, marks an essential step forward in the fight to defend our Haitian neighbors from deportation.

This victory comes after extensive advocacy and a months-long legislative effort. We organized, held hearings, and built a movement powered by impacted families, labor and civil rights organizations, business groups, and more. In March, my discharge petition—a measure to force a vote on this issue and break through Republican leadership’s obstruction—successfully met the 218-signature threshold to move forward with bipartisan support. This is only the 15th discharge petition to do so in the last 40 years. And this week, we brought it to the House floor and got it done.

This would not be possible without the strength and organizing power of the broad, diverse coalition to defend our Haitian siblings—a movement that has seen the humanity in the Haitian parents, workers, caregivers, faith leaders, business owners, and children who contribute so much to our communities daily. Thank you to the powerful coalition of advocates for your partnership.

To our Haitian neighbors in the Massachusetts 7th and beyond, thank you. This win is for you. Now this measure heads to the United States Senate. Today, we are closer than ever to protecting our Haitian community and their many contributions to our communities.

I am deeply grateful for your partnership and honored to stand alongside you as we continue fighting for everyone who calls the Massachusetts 7th home. As always, my team and I are ready to support you in any way we can, so please don't hesitate to give us a call at 617-850-0040 if we can be of assistance.
