Sharing this week’s update,

As your member of Congress representing Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, I’ve had the privilege of joining members of several faith communities in meaningful and enriching celebrations. In particular, I was warmly welcomed to iftar gatherings hosted by the Islamic Center of Frederick and the Urbana Muslim Association, where I had the opportunity to share a meal, learn more about the significance of Ramadan, and engage in thoughtful conversations centered on respect, reflection, and unity. Experiences like these serve as powerful reminders of how connection and understanding can flourish when we come together with open hearts.

I was also honored to take part in a Hindu celebration marking the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Bhagwan Ram. Their teachings, rooted in morality, righteousness, and devotion, continue to inspire millions and offer timeless guidance that resonates across cultures and beliefs. In addition, I was invited to participate in a Passover Seder within the Jewish community, a holiday rooted in freedom, remembrance, and resilience.

As we approach both the Passover and Easter holidays, it is my hope that everyone can take the time to spend time with their families and friends and reflect on their shared values and traditions. I look forward to celebrating with my own family while reflecting on the shared values that unite us across traditions. What makes America so special is the diversity that we embodied, we must continue to bridge all different religious perspectives. I wish you and your loved ones health, happiness, and a deep celebration of your own traditions.

New Survey: Data Centers

Across the 6th District and Maryland, massive data centers are being built to support Big Tech and AI proliferation. My office is hearing from you all - my constituents - that these data centers are being done without community involvement or transparency about the true impacts on local residents. Most especially, I am fielding complaints about rising energy bills, strains on the local environment and the voracious appetite of these centers on the ever-dwindling supply of water.

Celebrating Samsung Biologics

We have big news in the I-270 Technology Corridor! I joined Governor Wes Moore, County Executive Marc Elrich, Korean Ambassador Kang, and many Team Maryland local lawmakers and community partners to celebrate the opening of the first Samsung Biologics manufacturing site right here in Montgomery County. 

This is a major win for Maryland and a representation of how global partnerships and public investment help propel innovation, workforce opportunities, and improve the well-being of our communities. This milestone is made possible by the world-class research happening every day at our federal labs and universities—where discoveries move from the lab to advanced manufacturing and real-world solutions that benefit families.

Introducing Four Broadband Bills

Across the country, broadband, electricity, and clean water remain out of reach for far too many families. All communities–regardless of ZIP code–must have the tools, access, and connectivity they need to prosper, innovate, and thrive in our 21st-Century global economy.

Last week, I was proud to be joined by Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr. (R-PA-08) in introducing four bills that would address the dire need to lower costs and remove barriers to access. Learn more.

Coffee, Conversation, and Commitment to Our Seniors

I was delighted to join residents and staff at Autumn Lake Healthcare Center in Ballenger Creek for coffee and conversation during my March District Work period. I heard directly from seniors about their concerns—from everyday affordability and access to health care to protecting veteran benefits, long-term health care, voting rights, and safeguarding Social Security, as well as preventing scams that target older Americans.

Our seniors are the pillars of our communities, and facilities like Autumn Lake are essential to supporting their health, safety, and dignity. That’s why I remain focused on lowering costs and protecting the benefits families depend on through my Costs Down, Opportunity Up affordability plan.

Powering the Future with American Energy Innovation

I was thrilled to visit X-energy in Frederick to see firsthand how their innovative nuclear energy technology is helping power the future. Touring their plant support center—including a full-scale control room simulator used to train the next generation of operators—highlighted how investments in advanced energy create good-paying jobs and strengthen our local workforce. Maryland is leading the way in energy innovation, and I’m proud to support efforts that expand opportunity while building a more reliable energy future for our communities.

Congressional Art Competition: Reminder!

I’m officially inviting all high school students across Maryland’s Sixth to submit their work to the 2026 Congressional Art Competition! Our community is home to amazing talent, and I’m excited to see what you bring to this year’s gallery – whether it’s a painting, photograph, or digital art. The deadline for submissions is April 19, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Check out last year’s winning piece: “Con Artist” by Nolan Chen!

Celebrating Student Filmmakers in the Sixth District!

I’m proud to celebrate two outstanding student filmmakers from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown recently earned national recognition in C-SPAN’s annual StudentCam Competition! It’s an annual student documentary competition that honors 150 students from across the U.S. who create short films about the strength and complexity of our democracy.

Vis Amirshahi won the 2nd Prize for her Operation Ajax: Defending "Democracy" by Undermining the Will of the People video, and Nirbhay Wadehra won Honorable Mention for their Money, Power, and Democracy video. Congratulations to both of you! I urge everyone to take a moment to watch the documentaries and appreciate their excellent work!
