COVID VACCINE NEWSLETTER

DATA COMPILED ON MARCH 15, 2021

Welcome to the seventh edition of my COVID Vaccine Newsletter with information about vaccine distribution in our community.

Next week, I’m hosting a LIVE conversation with Dr. Anthony Fauci to get your questions answered. Learn more and RSVP here.

While Governor Hogan and our state and local leaders are solely responsible for the vaccine distribution and eligibility standards, this newsletter will provide you the latest information about that process in each county.

The CDC has updated their guidelines on activities that can be safely done for those who have been fully vaccinated. More information is available at this website.

Last week, I met with leaders at Novavax to discuss updates on their vaccine trial, FDA approval, and distribution. I was glad to hear that they’re working with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to ensure their vaccine is available to low and middle income countries.

I also spoke with leaders at Moderna. I was very impressed with their efforts to ramp up production to get more vaccines to states like Maryland, as evidenced by their 24/7 production schedule.

This newsletter includes information aggregated from multiple sources across the state. For all questions and concerns related to Maryland’s COVID-19 vaccine plan, please contact the office of Governor Larry Hogan.

WHAT PHASE ARE WE IN?

Following an order by Governor Hogan, Maryland is currently in Phase 1C of its distribution plan. According to the Maryland Department of Health, the following individuals should now be eligible for the vaccine:
  • Residents age 65 and older
  • Essential workers in food and agriculture, manufacturing, public transit, grocery stores, U.S. Postal Service, veterinary medicine, clergy, and more.

However, it is important to note that Governor Hogan has given each county and vaccination site the ability to set their own eligibility requirements, which may differ from the statewide phase.

For a complete list of who is eligible for a vaccine at this time, please click here.
