COVID VACCINE NEWSLETTER

DATA COMPILED ON MARCH 22, 2021

Welcome to the eighth edition of my COVID Vaccine Newsletter with information about vaccine distribution in our community.

This Thursday, I'll be joining Governor Larry Hogan for the grand opening of the COVID-19 mass vaccination site in Hagerstown. This site is going to be critical to the fight against COVD in Western Maryland, and I am proud to have fought to make this a reality. This brings us another step closer to getting vaccines in the arms of every American who wants one.

On top of that, President Joe Biden announced that we just reached 100 million shots in arms, a full 42 days ahead of schedule.

Things are looking up, but we still need everyone to continue to wear masks, wash their hands, and get the vaccine once it becomes available to them. It’s also important to get the vaccine even if you have already had COVID. This will ensure that you are not only protecting yourself, but your friends, family, and communities.

Once you are vaccinated, please refer to the CDC’s updated guidelines for information on what activities are safe for you.

While Governor Hogan and our state and local leaders are solely responsible for the vaccine distribution and eligibility standards, this newsletter will provide you the latest information about that process in each county.

This newsletter includes information aggregated from multiple sources across the state. For all questions and concerns related to Maryland’s COVID-19 vaccine plan, please contact the office of Governor Larry Hogan.

WHAT PHASE ARE WE IN?

Following an order by Governor Hogan, Maryland is currently in Phase 1C of its distribution plan. According to the Maryland Department of Health, the following individuals should now be eligible for the vaccine:
  • Residents age 65 and older
  • Essential workers in food and agriculture, manufacturing, public transit, grocery stores, U.S. Postal Service, veterinary medicine, clergy, and more.

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 Maryland will begin Phase 2A of its distribution plan, expanding eligibility to all residents age 60 and older.

However, it is important to note that Governor Hogan has given each county and vaccination site the ability to set their own eligibility requirements, which may differ from the statewide phase.

For a complete list of who is eligible for a vaccine at this time, please click here.
