Dear Friend,

On Wednesday, the House passed H.R. 790, the Federal Civilian Workforce Pay Raise Fairness Act.

This bill will override President Trump’s 2019 federal pay freeze and provide America’s more than two million federal civilian workers with a 2.6 percent pay raise.

If I could find any redeeming feature to the chaos of the shutdown, it would be that it reminded America that our federal workforce is indispensable to our commerce, our economy, our society and our way of life. Throughout the shutdown, the American people not only witnessed the surpassing dedication and patriotism of the federal workforce, but were reminded of the essential nature of the work they do for us.

I believe these are the people that make America work, and they deserve a raise.
