Recognizing our 2020 Local Heroes
December 30, 2020
Dear Neighbor:
As we mark the end of this tough year and reflect on the events of 2020, I am overwhelmingly inspired by all the creative local heroes who have helped us meet the challenges of COVID-19 in extraordinary ways.
Since launching a weekly video series in April to salute local heroes who were nominated for recognition by their peers, neighbors, friends, and colleagues, it's been my honor to recognize 40 distinguished constituents. From doctors and nurses to frontline workers and teachers, from firefighters and postal personnel to students and champions of human rights, these constituents have shown great vision, unyielding service and exemplary dedication to our community and nation in this year of trial and dread.
I encourage you to learn more about our outstanding 8th District Local Heroes by clicking here. To view a playlist of all of my video interviews with our Local Heroes, click here.
Today I am proud to unveil our 2020 Local Hero of the Year -- everyone in Maryland's 8th District! I’m grateful beyond measure to represent the people of Montgomery, Frederick and Carroll Counties. I salute and thank you all for your exemplary resilience and solidarity in this challenging time. Click here to watch my message to you.
I look forward to continuing this video series in 2021 and working with all our local, state, and federal partners to see our people through the end of the pandemic. If you would like to nominate an individual to be one of our local heroes next year, please click here.
As always, I encourage people across the 8th District to continue to share their concerns and insights with me and my staff by contacting my office or connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
All Best Wishes for 2021,
