News from Congresswoman Scholten

Dear friend,

Happy Friday! I wanted to reach out to tell you some of my priorities heading into my first term of Congress. I am committed to serving the people of Michigan’s Third Congressional District by bringing actual solutions to the table. Here are some areas I’m working in:

Transportation and Infrastructure

This week, I got placed on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. This is huge news for West Michigan: this committee placement will allow me to advocate for critical infrastructure improvements for our district. I’m eager to improve our airports, public transportation systems, and roads. For years, this part of the country did not receive the federal investment that it needed–and that’s about to change.

Supporting Small Business

I also got placed on the House Committee on Small Business this week! West Michigan is known for our business community–many global companies got their start in garages and storefronts across the district. I know how much these small businesses mean to my constituents. I’m ready to be an ally to business owners in my community.

Standing up for West Michigander’s Rights

One of my first actions in Congress was to cast a vote protecting women’s reproductive rights. West Michiganders deserve to have the ability to make their own healthcare decisions about their own bodies. I’m ready to be an advocate for West Michigan women.

And most of all, I’m already getting to work on the things that matter for people across the district. Just in the first few weeks of Congress, I co-sponsored a gun sense bill, co-sponsored a resolution condemning violence against women’s healthcare centers, and presented an amendment that would lower gas prices for Americans.

I look forward to hearing from you about what you and your family care about. Reach out to my office here!

Sincerely,
