This week was a busy week in Washington, DC! Here’s a recap of my week serving the people of West Michigan:

State of the Union

I kicked the week off by attending the State of the Union speech with my fellow freshman from Michigan, Rep. John James. John and I both believe in bipartisanship and the importance of working together, across ideological differences, to serve the people of Michigan. My constituents matter–and they deserve federal representatives who are willing to work together to deliver for them.

Protecting Our Water

I also attended the first meeting of the subcommittee on water. Water is a way of life in West Michigan. The new Michigan’s Third Congressional District has miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and stretches along the Grand River watershed. It is so important that we protect and preserve our lakes and rivers–and that we ensure that every Michiagnder’s drinking water is free of PFAS, lead, and other toxic chemicals.

Supporting the Next Generation

I’m laser-focused on setting the next generation of West Michiganders up for success. Over the last few weeks, I’ve visited schools and colleges across MI-03, and I’ve met with West Michigan educators. It is crucial that we support schools and colleges so they can provide lunch for low-income students and give our kids the mental health resources they need to succeed.
