News from Congresswoman Scholten

Dear Constituent,

I hope you are well! We had an amazing last week in the district, listening to constituents about what matters to them. Here’s a review of my week at home, and a look ahead to my upcoming week in DC.

Weekly Recap

I'm wrapping up a 2.5 week stretch back home in the district. I couldn't be more grateful for the time I've had to connect with constituents. We kept an action-packed schedule!

First, I had a wonderful visit with our men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard in Grand Haven and Muskegon. Through my work on the Transportation and Infrastructure committee, I serve as the vice ranking member on the Coast Guard Subcommittee. It's impossible to overstate the importance of the work the U.S. Coast Guard does in the Great Lakes region–the third largest economy in the world. I'm grateful to our men and women in uniform for protecting our waterways and keeping us safe.

Last week, I also had the opportunity to tour the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. This airport serves 3.5 million passengers a year, and supports over $3 billion in economic activity across West Michigan– it will play a central role as West Michigan’s economy grows. One of my main goals during my first term in Congress is to ensure that the airport has the resources it needs to serve one of the fastest-growing regions in the state.

Last but not least, I hosted my first town hall at Muskegon Community College this weekend! We had such an amazing turnout–I’m so grateful to all of the West Michiganders that showed up and asked about issues that matter to them, their families, and their communities. I’m committed to showing up for my constituents and answering their questions and concerns–it’s the duty of a representative.

The Week Ahead

This week, I’m back in Washington, DC to take critical votes on behalf of the people of West Michigan. Stay updated by following our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts @RepScholten.

As always–it’s my honor to represent the people of West Michigan in Congress.

Sincerely,
