Dear Constituent,
This week I was in Washington for a special vote series. America must pay its bills, and we must pay them on time.
That’s why I voted last night to uphold our country’s full faith and credit and avoid the disastrous impact a default would have on our country, and on West Michigan.
Since I got to Congress, I haven’t voted on a perfect bill. And this bill on the debt limit and federal spending was certainly not one of them. But, I voted yes because this bipartisan legislation pulls us back from the brink of economic catastrophe while ensuring that our veterans, seniors and working neighbors are taken care of. West Michigan’s priorities are my priorities. That’s why I fought to include protections for Social Security, Medicare, veterans’ benefits, and health care in this bill. I am committed to fiscal responsibility and I will work with my colleagues on further bipartisan solutions to get government spending under control, but will never play games with our full faith and credit.
PRIDE MONTH
Happy Pride Month, West Michigan! I’m looking forward to a month full of celebrations around the community and sharing more about my commitment to equity – in the workplace, in our schools, and in our country.
Watch my Pride Month message to all of our neighbors here! Also, reach out to my office to share your stories or lift up the stories of LGBTQ members of our community!
FUNDING FRIDAY
This Funding Friday, I’m highlighting the Build to Scale (B2S) program that’s supporting local projects to strengthen equitable ecosystems and increase access to capital for innovators and startups. The Economic Development Administration is now accepting applications for its $50 million program that is set to help regions like ours grow technology-driven businesses, create high-skill, high-wage jobs, and build the industries of the future – click here to apply.
Thank you so much for the honor of serving as your Congresswoman.
