Delivering $17,156,185 for Community Projects

Dear Neighbor,

I am thrilled to share that we delivered over $17.1 million in federal funding for 15 community projects in our district. This funding will improve the lives of our residents by providing home repairs, affordable housing, lead abatement, flood recovery resources, workforce development, neighborhood revitalization, and climate resilience to protect our public health.

$1,000,000 for After the Storm Flood Recovery
Many families struggle to find resources for basement flood clean ups and other critical needs after a weather disaster. This is why we were proud to secure $1 million for After the Storm for the Metro Detroit Flood Recovery Project. This funding will be used for housing rehabilitation, repairs, and recovery support for low-income and vulnerable households impacted by flooding. Helping our hardest-hit neighbors recover and rebuild their homes is an essential step towards restoring our most vulnerable neighborhoods.

$1,166,279 to Alternatives For Girls’ Dr. Maya Angelou Village
We delivered $1,166,279 for Alternatives For Girls’ Dr. Maya Angelou Village to build 45 housing units of affordable and safe housing for young moms and their families, with support for an early childhood education program on site and much more. I look forward to seeing our mothers and children thrive in this beautiful community.

$4,000,000 to Wayne County to facilitate a Multi-City Lead Service Line Replacement Project
I'm thrilled that we helped secure $4 million in funding for Wayne County to facilitate a Multi-City Lead Service Line Replacement Project. This project is a crucial step in protecting the public health of our communities by identifying and removing harmful lead service lines in Wayne County. As chair of the Get The Lead Out Caucus, I am committed to ensuring that everyone in the 12th District has safe drinking water.

$3,000,000 for the City of Detroit US Army Corps of Engineers Lead Service Line Replacement
We also delivered $3 million for the City of Detroit to work with the US Army Corps of Engineers on replacing lead service lines. This funding will help address the critical need to replace approximately 80,000 lead service lines throughout our city. This project will help protect the health and well-being of our community, ensuring that we have access to clean drinking water and I'm proud to be part of the effort to secure this much-needed support.

$1,000,000 for Home Repair Funding with Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance
We secured $1 million for Cody Rouge Action Alliance, Inc. to fund critical home repairs in this community! Too many of our residents are struggling with aging homes, and this funding is a crucial step toward keeping people in their homes and helping them live the comfortable and safe lives they deserve.

$220,204 to the Warrendale Multicultural Neighborhood Revitalization Project
We had a wonderful visit to the In Memory of Community Garden with the Warrendale Community Organization in celebration of their new Multicultural Neighborhood Revitalization Project! I am proud to have delivered $220,402 in federal funding for this project with partners including the International Institute of Metro Detroit and Islamic Center Detroit who will provide services. I'm so excited to help support the efforts of this community and thank all of the amazing volunteers who have supported the revitalization of Warrendale!

$959,752 Lead Service Line Replacement in Beverly Hills 
I was proud to present $959,752 to the Village of Beverly Hills at their village council meeting for the construction of a new water main and lead service line removal, ensuring more reliable and safer drinking water for our residents. This is a vital investment in public health, protecting our community from the risks associated with lead in drinking water.

$1,000,000 for Inkster’s New Fire Engine and Ambulance
The City of Inkster is getting a new fire fighting truck! We delivered the $1 million to replace damaged equipment and enhance emergency services for Inkster and surrounding communities. Investing in this infrastructure is critical, as Inkster plays a key role in providing mutual aid for emergencies in Western Wayne County.

$250,000 to the City of Westland for The Annex at Nankin
I was excited to deliver $250,000 in community project funding to the City of Westland for The Annex at Nankin in Westland City Hall Park! This will create a new outdoor space for events and community engagement. This project will promote physical and mental health by providing a space for people to engage in physical activity and provide opportunities for our local businesses.

$1,250,000 for the Livonia Senior Wellness Center 
The City of Livonia is getting a new center for our seasoned residents in Wayne County. My team and I were able to deliver $1.25 million in federal funding. This new amenity will enhance the quality of life for our seasoned residents and serve as an accessible resource in our community.

$500,000 for Dearborn Heights Fire Department Enhancements
Our office presented $500,000 to the City of Dearborn Heights for a new fire station. The funding will enhance the physical condition of the station, ensuring a safe and secure work environment for our firefighters. Investing in our local fire services is crucial, as it boosts their capacity to serve our community effectively.

$500,000 for the Dearborn Industrial Green Beltway
Dearborn is getting greener! I was thrilled to present $500,000 to the City of Dearborn for the Dearborn Industrial Green Beltway project, which will help mitigate old industrial pollution and contain new environmental contaminants. This investment not only enhances our community’s health and safety but also strengthens our commitment to environmental justice and climate resilience.

$500,000 to the Leaders Advancing Healthy Communities, Workforce Education Resource and Development Center
I was proud to deliver $500,000 to Leaders Advancing Healthy Communities for a new Workforce Education Resource and Development Center in Dearborn. This funding will transform an aged church rectory into a 6,000 square foot hub, providing essential workforce development, education, and training services. This center will offer culturally responsive support, translation services, and critical resources to help our unemployed and underemployed residents thrive.

$959,752 to Lathrup Village for the Water Main Replacement Project
Clean, accessible water is a human right, which is why I helped secure $959,752 for Lathrup Village's Water Main Replacement Project to enhance water flow and reliability in our community. This project will replace 8,385 feet of water mains across several streets, ensuring safer and more reliable water access for all residents. The improvements will take place on Avilla, Roseland, Redwood, Catalpa, Eldorado, Rainbow, and Southfield Roads.

$850,000 to the City of Southfield Beech Woods Parks and Wellness Trail
Creating more community space for all of our residents brings joy to so many families. We were excited to attend the Southfield City Council meeting to present an $850,000 check to the City of Southfield for the Beech Woods Parks & Wellness Trail. This funding will create recreational opportunities and safer transportation routes for pedestrians and cyclists. Investing in our community’s parks and shared spaces is vital to promoting the health, safety, and well-being for our residents.
