Hearing From Ag Producers in Goodhue County

This week I was glad to meet with members of the Organic Valley co-op as part of my Farm Bill Round Table discussions. I appreciated learning about the history of the co-op, talking with their members and hearing about their priorities regarding organic dairy provisions in the Farm Bill.

Special thanks to Dennis & Ruth Buck for hosting!

I also visited Schafer Farms, which has been specializing in quality beef & pork production in southern Minnesota for seven generations. I was grateful for the opportunity to tour their site and learn about how they use biosecurity technology to keep our food supply safe.
As the Chairman of the Nutrition, Foreign Ag, & Horticulture subcommittee, I am committed to making sure this Farm Bill is written by farmers, for farmers, and I look forward to many more discussions with our First District farmers, growers, and producers.

Olmsted County Visits

Thursday, I met with Olmsted County officials to tour their Waste-to-Energy facility and hear about their infrastructure priorities. I appreciated the update on projects they are working on locally, such as the U.S. Highway 14 corridor and other initiatives that will grow the region.

I also had the opportunity to tour Emcor Enclosures in Rochester, where they manufacture electronic equipment enclosures used in the broadcast, data center, security, and aerospace industries, as well as for the military and air traffic control systems.

Additionally, it was an honor to meet with correctional officers at the FMC Rochester facility this week and hear firsthand how we can ensure they have the resources they need to keep prisons safe for inmates and officers.
